That sounds like the ultimate set up (Nodoka / Mihoko)
![]() There has to be at least one challenger for Shana for each period. Try Mio first. Edit: Scratch that, put in Mikoto.

Space Opera Time:
(managed to finish before the next match results came out) And So It Begins... (Aquamarine 2) ![]() image by melange While the battleline are being drawnup between the JCS and the KyoAni Empire, the DEEN Directorate makes a move on the KyoAni flank via GONZO space. Director Minatsu's fleet invades the region around the Mihoko Pulsar as a staging point into the Empire. To counter this Nagisa the Bold deploys her forces near the Twin Moons of Nodoka. This positioning allows for the Empire to counter a massed Directorate push towards KyoAni Space. While Saber is able to defeat Commander Tsukasa of the Balsamic Fleet, her victory is fairly hollow with the routing of her other forces. Wing Commander Mio's squadron defeats the Mysterious Hanyuu easily, while the Legendary Girl A and Key Advisor Kyou defeat President Kurimu and the Red Mage Rin, respectively. With the offensive defeated, Saber must draw her forces back and plan a next move. DEEN Directorate have a skirmish with JCS forces in the space between their respective borders. While Magistrate Chizuru was attempting to capture Mafia leader Chiaki Minami (who was nearly caught), the Kugimiya Knight Nagi came along and disrupted the encounter leading to a fight between her and the Loli-clones of Illya, the Kugimiya Master winning the fight. However Nagi's support element and moral center, Spiritualist Isumi, was intercepted by Director Mafuyu of the Ministry of Truth, causing some confusion in the encounter in general. Chiaki-hime escaped in the confusion. Rika-chama was sent to see if the Ghosts of the Nebula would like to ally with the Directorate against the KyoAni Empire. While the idea was tempting, Hiragi decided that it was best for them to go there own ways. Especially with the reputation that the Cult of Oyashiro-sama has when it comes to the KyoAni Empire. Rika-chama was driven out of Shaft space. Meanwhle in the KyoAni Empire: President Tomoyo, finally returned from her failed conference with the JCS, comes to inspect the Moe Marines of Mikuru. Needing to be whipped into shape, Tomoyo does a good job giving them a good kick in the rabbit tail. The Legendary Kagami arrives at the Planet Fuuko to evaluate the loss of the Balsamic Fleet in a war games with the Starfish Warriors. Her discovery is that it was more Tsukasa being rusty than the battle tactics of the people of Fuuko. Key Intelligence Officer Ichinose continues her investigation of K-onsonance colonial works. A little timid after having lost to multiple members of this group she comes to UI. The locals immediatly find her cute and treat her like royalty. Kotomi-chan wins. Intelligence Officer St. Nagato-chi investigates the Guardians of the Sacred Ushio. She finds their defensed unsatisfactory and institutes a rebuilding model for them in order to keep the Sacred Ushio protected in times of war. Horo Enterprises makes a visit to Azunyan's World to strike a dal with the KyoAni Empire. The effects of the planet cause the Horo representative to give the KyoAni a better deal and thus loose some of the profit margin. Squadron Leader Yui is sent to the new border with the Ghosts of the Nebula to deturmine their resolve. Nadeko the Snake's forces come out to drive the KyoAni fighter groups away from their territory, forcing Yui to withdraw. The war against the Tenuous Alliance results in only a few battles as the two sides perpare for all out war. The God Empress Haruhi, hurting from her defeat at the hands of Saber, manages to restore some of her confidence by defeating the Diet Warriors of Minorin near the border. Meanwhile Kugimiya Grand Master Shana personally leads a strike team to the Planet Mei to disrupt training programs and weapons manufacturing for the Loli Warriors. This act may put the Loli Warriors of Mei back several months. And the White Devil would cover this attack by drawing away the forces of Representative Ryou and defeating them in open combat via the application of superior firepower. However not all is well in the Tenuous Alliance. The striking defeat of Fate has left an open wound in the Alliance. The Time-Space Administration Bureau may give lip service and support to the Alliance, but to Fate the Alliance is dead. However she needs to find a way to break the bonds perminately while still allowing the TSAB to survive. Fate choices to disrupt the patrol of the Shining Blue Dragons of Ami by changing their orders, thus allowing the Diet Warriors to be attacke by the KyoAni Empire alone and without support. Elsewhere in the Galaxy: The Angels test the Geass Regency by sending Nymph...this was a poor idea since C.C. has gone "turtle" and will defend to the last. A rumor spreads about the survival of one of the legendary Negima Empire. Nodoka susposedly survived and is fighting the remains of the Oriental Regime on the Unknown Regions. This report is still a rumor though some say that Tamaki of 2H2 was defeated.

Well the vote totals went back above 5k. I guess some people realised the votes weren't just one-off?
Mio did quadruple Ui. Taiga almost quadrupled Mihoko and Shana almost quadrupled Nodoka. Shana and Taiga also crack 4k votes. Looks like Mihoko or Nodoka will only avoid a winless season when they verse each other. Down to 10 undefeated chars for this neckalce. Nearly all of them are in tough matches in day 4 and 4 of them are versing each other. Tantalising. One result surprised me big time though....C.C. lost to Mafuyu? *scratches head* *pats Demi on the shoulder* Just get 'em to DE. Then we got the real deal.

Either the matches this season are suddenly crazily unpredictable, the results are extremely difficult to predict, it is no longer possible to easily predict the results, or I suck.
Now that's an interesting thing to note; how quickly would the number of undefeated contestants dwindle this year? Last year, there were only ~six by the time of Aqua9, four after it, and two after Topaz2. The last girl, Haruhi, received her first defeat on Emerald9 after 44 straight wins.

Here are some of my thoughts on the matches. Putting the arguably strongest character (Shana) against arguably the weakest character (Nodoka) produces a large blowout but it can't seem to compare to a massive SFF beatdown (Mio vs Ui). I wonder what Mio vs [Manabe] Nodoka would look like. <_< Ruiko's boost that let her beat Rika seems to have mostly worn off. It faded a lot faster than I thought it would. I wonder if her match with Misaka unnatually took the wind out of her sail or if her boost really disappeared this quickly. Misaka looked to be in top form but it's possible Misaka was always that strong and wasn't relying on a Railgun finale boost.

Yea, Shana looks more unstoppable than ever before.
I wish Fate's win over Shiina Minatsu was a bit higher. But hey, a win is a win. And man, such a mouth-watering round the next one is. Can't wait for the result for that one.

One of my top 8 won. How sad is that? Though in the end, it's simply a new demographic. Not that taste is changing, new countries are just invading. ;-; Quote:

And So It Begins... (Aquamarine 3)
![]() image by melange The JCS offensive spikes as Kugimiya Knights Nagi and Louise invade the KyoAni Empire on two fronts. Nagi leads a force consisting of the Legendary Maria and Spiritualist Isumi while Louise of the Void has Techno-Lieutenant, Saten with her on the other front. The KyoAno defenses are lead mostly by the Clannad Republic supported by the Balsamic Fleet and fighters under Flight Lt. Asuza. Nagi's force is stalled by President Tomoyo's interception of the Legendary Maria and Isumi is turned all around by the fighters of Lt. Asuza. Only Master Nagi manages to defeat Key Intelligence Officer ichinose save this front from folding. Knight Louise's front manages to defeat the Balsamic Fleet and Lt. Saten defeats elements of the Loli Warriors of Mei keeping that front very much alive. Kugimiya Masters Shana and Taiga invade GONZO space to setup a region to flank both the KyoAni Empre and the DEEN Directorate. They easily defeat the League of Extraordinary Gamers at the Twin Moons of Nodoka and the Mihoko Pulsar. The war with the DEEN Directorate continues to buildup as the Red Mage Rin leads a party deep into KyoAni space. Rin defeats the long distance support of the Moe Marines of Mikuru (Mikuru Beam), while the Loli-clones of Illya invade the Trade World of Izumi causing chaos. However the supporting fleet under Magistrate Chizuru is defeated by the Legendary Kagamin and a secondary raid by the Mysterious Hanyuu is deflected by the Gaurdians of the Sacred Ushio. Key Advisor Kyou dicided to save time and traveled though the dangerous Nebula of the Golden Darkness. However since she is a veteran of many wars she made her way though will little difficulty. Internal politics is something that eventhe KyoAni Empire is not spared. Nagisa the Bold was brought before the God Empress Haruhi for her failure in the Ghost Nebula. That Nagisa was bold enough to face the God Empress was enough for Haruhi, but Nagisa was assigned the next High Defender of the Sacred Ushio for the next rotation of the moon. St. Nagato-chi would be sent to observe the forces under Representative Ryou. The evaluation would show that Ryou's forces need much training to be up to the standards of the Empire, even with her year rest following the First Great Moe War. Nagato tends to be exacting in her observations. Yui, "The Castinet Hero", was sent to the World of Fuuko to perform a concert to increase moral. Wing Commander Mio would travel to the World of UI to pick up supplies for the next major campaign. Mio's force gained may extra supplies, meaning her forces would be in high spirits and moral is high for future engagements. Meanwhile: Saber of the Kingdom of Night would attempt to gain the support of the Angels via Nymph. It is uncleat if the support will actually come since the motives of the Angels is unclear at this time. Directorate President Kurimu would investigate Rika-chama's loyalty to the DEEN. The Cult as questionable motives, having sided with the KyoAni Empire at different times during the last two wars. Rika-chama says she will continue to support the DEEN (niipah). Director Mafuyu invaded Geass Space in order to gain a base of operations closer to the KyoAni Empire. The Witch-Regent was forced to fall back deeper into her own territory, thus allowing the Directorate a easy route for future offensives into the Empire. Director Minatsu would attempt to mend the fences with Commander Fate, but Fate was having none of it. The Lightning Command would devistate Minatsu's command. Fate was going to cut her own path in this war, and the KyoAni, DEEN, and perhaps even the JCS would be wise to stay out of her way. The White Devil was ambushed near the Ghost Nebula by the Hiragi, suffering defeat before she could bring her Starlight Breaker to bare. Former colonist Niche has discovered a small moon to settle in the Unknown Regions, driving away the Excel of the Sunrise Industrial Complex. This small victory would be her first and probably last since she can settle on this world with little to interfere with her way of life, beyond the destruction of the war.

Now that you mention it, it is pretty close. Mio just needs to avoid Shana a bit and hope she can get some extra strength from K-On!!. Mio vs Shana in Aquamarine 7 would be a complete waste. Mio probably wants to face Hinagiku and Shana in Sapphire or Emerald if possible.
Edit: I believe there have been rumors of Shana Season 3 floating around. I'm not sure when it comes out, but Mio and everyone else obviously don't want to fight Shana after Season 3 starts up. From what I can tell the last Shana S DVD comes out in August so Shana Season 3 probably won't start before then. If Shana does get a fair sized boost from Shana Season 3, I wonder if any other characters will step up to the plate to compete with Shana.
