Ash from Pokemon. I was about eight or so when it first started airing, and he was the first male character in anime that I had steady exposure to. On another note, I also had an unusual affection for Misty and eventually came to prefer her over Ash, though I don't know if that was an actual crush or admiration for a strong female character.

Probably Tuxedo Mask/Darien from Sailor Moon or Vegeta from DBZ. I watched both shows at the same time, but I think I was a bigger fan of Vegeta than Darien really... Hm, I don't really know.

I just knew he could kick ass and take names and that's why I liked him-- plus he wasn't quite a good guy but wasn't a complete bad guy either (my first encounter with the anti-hero trope.) Also Vegeta was my brother's favorite character for about week (a long time for him) and anything that was deemed my brother's favorite became my favorite as well. So, yeah, it's a bit complicated-- or not really. I guess the five year old me really liked the tsundere personality type.

I can't think of watching anime when I was kid. I'm only 15 now, so probably a lot younger than everyone else posting. When I watched anime when I was little it was like InuYasha and Dragon Ball/Z, so I didn't really pay attention to characters and plot and just kind of sat in front of the TV looking at the pretty animation.
So my first actual "anime crush" would probably be Mikuru when I first watched Haruhi Suzumiya not too long ago. |

...eh?
I don't remember... I am kinda the type who wants his favorite couple to get it on rather than dream of soiling one of them himself but I must confess that there have been times when I got jealous of the guy or the girl lol, that or I felt very sorry for some characters that were given the short end of the stick by the authors... But yeah, I don't remember which one was the first. I am 18, almost 19 now (which puts me way behind the leagues of all you ancient folks in this thread, you know who you are. It's refreshing, in a not-so-not-weird way, to know that you guys, with your ticket for the train beyond the hills kinda ready (sorry, lol) can still feel love for 2D animu waifus!!) and I first came across random anime when I was around 6 to 8. And I didn't really care for the girls at that age, it was more like, wow what awesome clothes and even more so, wow nice fights \(-_-)'/ ... If I do stretch my memory a bit, the oldest bits (in the order I watched them) that flash across include Sakura from CCS, Misty / Kasumi from Pokemon, Kenshin and Seta Soujirou from Rurouni Kenshin. But the oldest characters I like from anime, considering the actual air dates would be Lum, Shinobu and Ataru and a host of other characters from Urusei Yatsura. If I had to choose an anime girl for my waifu then right now, ugh..., I guess I would go with ..blah...too difficult since I have a hundred images popping up but hardly remember enough about the images to make a good judgment. Instead, I will go with Ayumi Takahara from The World God Only Knows, even though that's not an anime, yet. But, I would rather see her end up with the God himself, so whatever really. |
