Tactical space anime

Hello everyone.

I usually just read the forums and check the suggestions page when im in search for a new anime. (and i did use the search funtion but couldn't find anything)

Does anyone have a couple suggestions about tactical space related anime? doesn't matter when they we're made.

im a fan of the gundam anime series but looking for a somewhat more serious space battles. (serious in the way, that not 1 mobile suit shoots down entire army's aka Gundams)

Also, if you happen to know any good horror anime 2009/2010 i would appriciate it.

Judging by your description of Gundam, you've only seen Wing, later parts of Seed/Destiny, and the like. You might want to try Gundam Unicorn, or UC stuff in general. Three grunts in inferior MS nearly kill a skilled pilot with a clearly superior MS in Unicorn's first couple minutes.

As far as 2009-2010 horror, have you seen Umineko no Naku Koro ni ?

If you are really looking for pure "tactics", I think it would be more appropriate to check out something like Titania.

By the way, I would not recommend Umineko at all, as it is clearly not horror, but mystery/detective oriented.

That's true, but I can't think of anything closer to horror in 2009-2010. Really, something like Boogiepop Phantom is a far better choice, but it's older.

Its true, i've only seen Gundam Wing, seed, destiny, 00.

I will give Gundam Unicorn a try. pretty sure i will like it

I have checked Tytania with google. - i will it a try out looks promosing.

Not sure if i have seen Umineko no Naku Koro ni, japanese names confuse me
i will download the trailer and check it out.

If you know any high rated horror anime then im game for it.
Boogiepop Phantom as you have mentioned - i'll check it out with google and see if it appeals to me.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Crest of the star. It's tactics galore basically.

I second both of these.

Have you ever watched the Macross anime? I'm talking about the original Macross SDF-1

From memory the battles in that were very well done and more often than not it was luck, not skill getting the Valkyrie pilots through.

Vandread looks a bit girly. and the plot, man vs women. i dont know...
its not really serious.

I'm looking for some real serious space battles,
Fleets fighting against each other. tactical planning on how to attack each other their fleet.

Hoping to find that in Tytania, but downloading it requires some time as it is going very slowly.

Crest of the Stars.

Best suggestion for this. Although what you really want is the sequel Banner of the Stars. That's nothing but space tactics. (And philosophical babbling over a glass of wine with relatives of people you killed)

You might also try Space Battleship Yamato aka Starblazers

Or even the Day of Sagitarus episode of Haruhi Suzumiya (a parody of Starblazers)
