Just read the latest Manga chapter, and...something just crossed my mind.
Is it possible that the Manga might be heading towards the end of its serialization?
Given that the Anime may intend to end at the same point...

so from what I have heard, ep 4 of the anime concludes vol 1 of the LN. The anime has been announced to have 24 eps (?), so we will get to vol 6 at the end?

As far as i remember, Naofumi never had any Amnesia in the Web Novel only.
There are two times when his personality changed (from the current angry young man one), them being

- during the "Dragon Emperor" arc, when older Gaelion absorbed the hatred from Naofumi and his 'Shield of Wrath', at that point Naofumi sort of went into his the creepy otaku nature.

- the other one being, when Naofumi unlocked the Curse Series of "New Deadly Seven Sins" on his Shield; during which while he didn't lose his memory, he became obsessed world domination, and trying to revive Raphtalia (as he thought the Raphtalia who was in front of him was a fake, and had killed the real one).

Why would the Manga end, just because the Anime adaptation might end around this same point? (both aren't connected to each other)

The series is quite popular for the Manga series to end without a proper ending. So, it would probably cover almost until the end of the LN (considering that there isn't any drop in sales or popularity or some unforeseen event down the road).

Prime example for this i think would be the "Attack of the Titan" series.
From what i have heard, the Anime was going ahead of the Manga series, by so much that the Anime completed the 1st Season part well before the Manga reached that point (and from what i know, "Attack of the Titan" isn't based on a Light or Web Novel, its a direct Manga story).
This caused the 2nd Season of the Anime to be delayed by over 2-3 years, since they wanted to cover a lot of the plot in the Manga first, and avoid repeat of what happened before.

Same happened with the recent "Cardcaptor - Clear Card" series as well.
The Anime Adaptation went ahead of the plot covered by the Manga, and almost ended before the Manga reached that point (the last anime episode aired about 4-5 days after the Manga chapter release which covered the same plot), but still now the Manga is going on. They also changed the ending part of both Manga and Anime somewhat, in order to make things different and give a plot twist.

Depends on how much they try to stretch or skip on the next few arcs.

If the Manga is being that much popular, than it's all ok.
That idea simply crossed my thought because people here said that events from the current Manga Arc are diverging a bit from its LN equivalent.

About the Anime, its 1st Opening shows stuff to LN03, so it's safe to assume it may advance 4 episodes per volume for now.
Gotta wait and see what the 2nd Opening may show us...

One thing is certain, the Anime series won't end before stuff from Volume 04 is covered.

Mainly because its publicly proven that Naofumi was innocent (for the rape charges), plus one of the major culprit gets defeated in there, and we see for the first time the most OP skill that Shield Hero could use (since it is the only "Shield of Wrath" Curse Skill that Naofumi got in both WN and LN, while some of the other ones which he used later were LN original).

Not sure if anyone had seen this before, but:
Reddit: Author says that Naofumi character inspiration came from Ragnarok Online

Did Nafoumi and crew blunder into a parallel world and meet alternative versions of themselves? That's what it looks like to me.

*looks closer*

Oh wait that's Kiel in the dress....

Still is that WN version of Raphatalia holding the Hammer there?

Dang now I'm curious.

I think that the slave traders are hilarious. I find their personalities to be one of the series running gags/ stress relievers.

How many anime seasons would it take to cover up to the latest Vol 21?
(Assuming all seasons are 2-cour.)

If we consider the current Anime Adaptation speed (at which the plot is being covered), i suspect that atleast around 4-5 seasons would be needed to cover upto Volume 21 content. Here is my assumptions,

- v06-v09, aka the "Turtle Arc" and "Kizuna World Arc" could easily fit season 2 if they don't rush too much (plus those two have to be covered together, as they are sort of sequel arcs).

- v10-v14 would be ok for another season (aka., 3rd season), as stuff from v10, v11 and v12 could easily be covered in half a season, while the later half can focus on Raphtalia's arc from v13 and v14.

- i am not sure how stuff goes on from v15 onward (as it haven't been translated yet, though i know the plot of v15 and v16, since its similar to WN plot), but if i have to guess then v15-v18 would cover another season (4th season), while v19+ would go for 5th season.

Seems like it might be the "Past" timeline. Because in Anime episode 17, Fitoria has a flashback relating to a hero in the past, who kind of looks like the guy from Volume 20 & 21 cover (the one named "Mamoru Shirono").

As far as i know, there is no news about LN v23 yet.
I think the release is just delayed, because of other stuff like the ongoing spin-off series, work on Anime Season 2 & 3, etc.
And i think that the LN story is close to its end as well, that's why the release speed has dropped as the Author is probably reworking the ending plot.

The same thing happened with "Arifureta" series as well, with LN v11 releasing nearly 13 months after the release of LN v10 (before that, we had a release of a new LN volume atleast twice in a year) and its expected that the Main Story of the series would end in v12 or v13. But in-between that 13 months gap, we got the Anime, Short-Story Compilation Volume and new Manga adaptations (along with release of LN of Side-Story, and Manga adaptation Chapters/Volumes).

From what I've read on Amazon's review.
Apparently vol 21-22 is super big disappointing and from what I've seen, most books usual review usually 4 to near 5 star.
According to reviews, Naofumi and Raphatalia suddenly changed and very different. Like very different characters. Maybe because of this, the author planning to redo it or the author just took time to make vol 23 good. And it's been year since vol 22...
