I found out Narasaki from Coaltar of the Deepers is involve in the music, that explains the indie styling in the band music. Oh boy, I'm enjoying it!!
Got to mention Hayami Saori did a great job on the second song which is probably a style she had never tried before. Well story wise, not sure if the same is depicted in the manga but I felt the introductions could have spend more time giving equal footing to both Yuzu and Momo. The later had sort of jumped into the picture suddenly to take up a bigger piece in Nino's heart? Should that be the case when the singing on the beach thing had been continuing for 6 years? Curious what is Miou going to do now... she's obviously not happy of Nino's intrusion. |

I liked it.
Been a while since I remember watching a show with a childhood character heroine character. I liked the contrast of how closed/quiet she looks with the headphone and mask on, but when taken off, she can't stop talking lol. Was thrown for a loop at the end, when the reveal with Momo came out, and ANOTHER childhood friend of hers shows up, damn, how many childhood friends is this girl going to run into at this school. Though as much as a focus on music the series has, I kind of think the music sucks lol. Though Saori Hayami did do a good job on the 2nd song. The supporting characters are interesting, they could easily just be throwaway characters, but the other two guys in the band have personality imo.

Episode 2:
This show really likes the Twinkle Twinkle Star theme wow... Luckily, the OP song takes a different approach. I think it's alright, not too impressive though. One thing I notice about this show is the constant flashbacks of Nino. I think it's really trying to get the audience to understand her better. She and Momo has quite a past back then. It also shows when she started to wear a facemask. The character relationship between her and Yuzu was noticeable too. Pretty decent background storytelling episode imo

After episode 1 last week I read a bunch of the manga. For what it's worth, episode 1 covered manga chapters 2-4 and episode 2 covered chapter 1. I presume this was because they wanted to present the "setup" content (chapter 1) properly while making it clear this is a story about high school kids and singing (and lots of melodrama). I think it's a smart choice since you generally want the 1st episode to give you a flavour of the overall series.
Anyway... reasonably happy with the anime so far. Not sure if they can cure the big problem I have with the manga but I'm willing to give it a go for now. |

Alice annoys me, and there's too much manufactured drama for my taste here. But are there actual fans who don't think Yuzu>>>>Momo? Hard to believe that, though I have a near-percect track record of rooting for the loser in shoujo triangles.

Yuzu's a bit to tsun, but I don't hate it, and in some instances it's a bit to cute, but if I had to compare them as elementary school kids, Momo eggs out Yuzu a bit for me. Hard to say currently, since we've seen more of Yuzu then Momo so far.

Watched just the first episode and it didn't impress me at all, the drama felt, as already said, manufactured for now. The lalala part was particularly annoying (while the twinkle twinkle little star out of place), if it was supposed to be a way to convey how good the kid's composing talent is, well, it didn't work, but I didn't like the music in general of the whole episode after all.
The other one seems to be a pro, so hopefully he could deliver something better. For now it seems the kids want to be a music band and they finally found the singer while the megane boy is very likely involved with that pro band who is rumored is disbanding. I certainly felt for the, now very likely previous, vocalist. She basically got discarded twice. If the show did something is it made me roots for her. Anyhow as happened with these series, I get reminded of Nana each time, MC's name Nino sure helps. Of course is unfair as a comparison. Nana's first stage appearance was a blast (pun intended). Anyhow, I'll wait to see if the second boy's good before deciding.

Episode two and still no signs of Momo, meanwhile Nino keep la-la-la-ing on us. plz Momo show up!
She even claimed to not know what she can do anymore if after 6 years that song didn't reach him. Dear Nino, it's very simple, CHANGE that horrible song! Yeah, he said you should keep singing, but maybe he is like Yuzu who just lies to you

Singing possibly alright, but I was waiting for neighbours to say shut up and go to sleep during window scene. 'Totally cares' sign on back and dry reaction from friends was best moment in episode. We've really seen so little of Momo we can't possibly say which guy would be better. Overall it seems a bit too melodramatic for me.

Episode 3:
Nino and Miou's character chemistry is what I found quite appealing this episode. Hope they will remain as good friends from here. This episode also gave me a better impression of Momo and that the show will have good amount of characterization on him. Seems Nino is really inspired to sing and I hope she has success. One thing I do hope for this show is to develop more original songs as the ones debuted so far aren't impressive imo. I have a feeling this show will also develop more and more into Nino/Yuzu's relationship.
