Ahh, the sweet smell of the bottom of the barrel.
You really know that an LN/WN concept has become a trend if you start seeing series like this animated. That said, I'm not sure I'd welcome this as much as the Battle Academy trend.

When Japan is finally going to adapt stories like MT or Shieldbro and not these random stuff they found at the bottom of the barrel? |

I've read some of the source webnovel, but this isn't one of the titles I'd expect for an anime.
(still crossing fingers for Isekai Mahou wa Okutereru) I'm just more surprised the announcement wasn't made months earlier, like the announcements for Knights & Magic, and Isekai Izakaya Nobu. |

Yeah, I'm not going to say this is a show I'm at all excited about. But...such is. Harem shows pop up and such is how it goes. It doesn't sound amazing and the MC has a kind of dumb looking face....but it might be decent.
All I can say is....hopefully he also asked to bring a solar phone charger with him .

The first thing that came to mind when I saw this was:
Then after that it was: Now ... no doubt to deliberately show that on the one hand I should not judge a book by it's cover watch this have magnificent production values and totally blow the source material out of the water ... the other hand will no doubt be to spite me. All that said ... this kinda has the dim, faint feel of a series that might be so bad it could possibly be enjoyable at the same time. Hmm ... been a while since I came across one of those. XD

^^Nah, he could charge it with magic. Because there is magic.
Kinda surprising it didn't get announced earlier, 4 months before airing huh. Not much a fan of the story, but probably will watch it to waste time.

Adding some context stuff to the staff list...
Director: Takeyuki Yanase He's definitely no beginner to the anime industry, having staff roles in anime that go waaay back like Saber Marionette J and Master of Mosquiton to more recent works like Pan de Peace. BUT, he's a relative newbie in directing an entire series compared to his more widespread role in directing animation and individual episodes. The only show he has directed so far is Himegoto (that trap anime from 2014). Series Composition, Script: Natsuko Takahashi You'd know Natsuko Takahashi for her script work for Gakutsuou and The Prince of Tennis and five episodes of Casshern Sins, but she also did script work for six episodes of the abomination that is Divine Gate. But then again, she did decently in both series composition and script for Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari, so why not? Character Design, Chief Animation Director: Toshihide Masudate, Masahiro Sekiguchi, Miyako Nishida All three have their sizable contributions in tons of anime. Sekiguchi is very stacked. There's one thing that worries me: why three character designers? I'm aware that character designers can also act as chief animation directors, but you'd often see one character designer. Studio: Production Reed This is an interesting note. Reed was formerly known as Ashi Productions, and they primarily do key animation and in-between work. One series where they act as the main animation studio is BLEACH. I guess this is their chance to do something different as a main animation studio after all that bankai spam.

Shilling warning!
You can read the first ~40 pages of the LN at J-Novel Club for free (and volume 1 ebook comes out in 2 days). This might be one of the first anime based off a light novel where the novels came out before the anime!

The title made me think that this could be a potentially great piece of social commentary on how smartphones have taken over the first world.
The promotional picture makes me think otherwise... Quote:

Just browsing the webnovel subforum a few minutes would give me brain cancer, especially when every single thread have the same three fcking questions. Then I see this getting adapted....

Let's see: make a light novel adaptation about a boy sent to an alternate fantasy world with harem focus a la Dog Days, incorporate a smartphone as plot device because mobile games adaptations are on the rise and lastly, said light novel adaptation originally based scripts off of webnovel. Sounds like a recipe for success right? Or perhaps not considering the battle harem trend lately.
That said the studio that bought us Macross 7 is finally bringing a number of new titles lately but somehow looked so different than before. I just hope this will end up being like KonoSuba in that it pokes fun in its own genre, or it could turn out to be like Sky Wizards Academy where the characters are somewhat likeable to make up for its cookie-cutter plot. Not expecting much else besides either way. Artwork looked nice in this visual and gives me strange mid-to-late 2000s vibes but I've seen plenty of shows with this visual style that tell better stories.
