Yes this game has extremely specialised characters that you can spend alot of time on, each of them has a completely unique style of play. Not everyone is able to handle multiple styles and probably would choose to just stick to one character.

Haku-men is my best character. If I'm allowed Haku, everyone is basically screwed. Everyone I know that -would- challenge me at Blazblue stopped because of that. Now only if I could fight online and in ranked matches. THEN I could actually gauge my skill.
I also play Blazblue for the story and to beat Bang up. That guy needs to learn to use 'vanish jitsu' more often... Preferably permanently. |

what are we talking about here? continuum shift or calamity trigger? for some reason, when i'm playing online, i always get lag. like a noticeable delay between pressing a and having the punch come out. so my online win % is like 10% haha. that said, i'm not hardcore enough to buy a stick.
even then, if i had CT Nu, i would probably be able to rock a lot of people though from what i played of /\ when i was in toronto, she's a lot more diverse than before. the parsers definitely help.

CT, since I've yet to pick up CS. (Believe me, it pisses me off more then you think.)
Since you have experience playing CS, what is Hazama like? What is the total reach of ouroboros? Distortion finish? Astral Finish? What does his story detail? (remove spoilers as much as possible... like, who is the 'final fight'?) I know, I'm like a wide-eyed lil' kid wondering why the sky is blue. xD |

i never played Hazama or played against Hazama while i played, but i have watched so many match videos that i can say his chains go pretty much full screen, maybe one character short of full screen. the counter is pretty much pointless, since it regens so fast. he has one distortion that's used a ton more than the other because it has DP properties. his astral looks like its animated in the 80s, complete with poorly drawn 3d snakes..

Haven't been able to play much else besides versus and the arcade story-mode. It usually has people lining up for another crack at it so you never really get to rest. Usually it's a best of 3 set-up though one time they managed to make it a best of five before swtiching back, don't know how really

woot, I just found out this is out for PC.
Does it feature IP to IP online play? Because lag would make it unplayable for me for anything other than against local players. PS: Actually, looks like CS for PC is a hack of the Arcade version which runs on something really similar to a Windows PC, so it was kinda easy to do--so I doubt it has online play rofl.

Arcade Mode (you know what this is) Score Attack Mode (Mostly the same before but with Tsubaki and Unlimited Hazama added and Unlimited Rachel being the final boss) Sparring Mode (15 minute endless match against the CPU, an arcade analogue to training mode) |

It's being released next month in Japan (June in Europe, no known NA release) and it has cross-system online play against Xbox 360 players. Oh, and like the European version it has all the DLC included from the get-go.

Is there any CGI of Haku-men from Continuum Shift up yet? Just asking to be curious.
Also the arcade version sounds rather fun, though doing an astral finsih sounds rather hard to do. If they can avoid hitting me the moment I do Kokuujin, then they deserve to win IMO. |

Why would you even think about having 1-hit KO moves in any competitive environment? I reckon they'll just be ignored as in Guilty Gear. At least I didn't see anyone pull that off when I was in Japan.
Also btw that catgirl whatsitsname seems to have a really simple infinite (like, a 2-move infinite)? At least until you hit the edge of the screen (and for a good number of hits on the wall, too)... or at least I saw one guy pull it off quite a few times in Japan. PS: Good thing I picked Noel as my main since she seems to have a bad matchup against practically everyone... :V

There are no infinites, only very long loops, the 2 infamous loops are Tao's 7.6k damage and Arakune's 9k damage loops. These loops are not easy to pull off, Tao's may look 'simple' but has a very strict timing. Thus 2 characters are still only mid tier characters.

The fact that this kind of combos or loops are even possible is an unbalancing factor in favor of the characters that have them.
In CT, Carl's grab loop can be hard to master, but it's possible to get a K.O. with a single combo after part of the match has passed. As a matter of fact, long loops also break the flow and rythm of the game, making the experience almost boring (remember Fate Unlimited Codes? Yeah, that "I'm gonna get a coffee while you do that Rin Jewel loop, brb" feeling). Regarding Instant Kill in GG, if I recall correctly they're not forbidden in tourneys; it's perfectly possible to IK A.B.A. when she's recovering from a certain attack, not to mention taking advantage of Faint. But that's something every character has, not one or two specifically, and to use in very specifical situations. |

with loops, matches are long, predictable and boring. like every taokaka match i've seen (barring like, the really good players) has her doing the loop. just like every arakune match is block > block > block > try to curse > block > block > try to curse > block block > curse > 7k damage.
