It's 5 hours and 30 minutes more. I'll never wait for the subs. The moment a stream shows up I'll watch it. So be it crunchyroll sub or chinese live stream site.

Ignoring Saintess claim AGAIN

Crunchyroll is subbed (but are the DVDs/Blu-Rays also subbed?)

No, they aren't. The only official subbed version available is the Crunchyroll-one.

Oy! Show some respect for me and my waifus!

Anyway, it is out and subbed. More in the S2E1 thread.

Simple question: has the anime skipped any of the arcs yet? Or are they just going straight through in order?

They seem to be sticking pretty closely to the manga so far. The only change has been some extra padding in some of the girls' arcs to draw them out to three episodes.

That worked nice for Kanon, but wasn't a good idea for Shiori - I really felt the Shiori arc stretched a bit

Officially caught up on S1, and jumping head-first into 2. Show is alternating between disturbing, hilarious, and adorable. Am incredibly okay with this.

I don't think anything's going to change at this point. The sales are still rather mediocre, somewhere around 3,000 copies per volume (BD/DVD combined). It's not in what we would normally call "sequel territory" (this new season is not a sequel, but a split cour), but there are of course more factors beyond just DVDs/BDs (such as manga sales, CDs, other merchandise, etc.).

I think it would've been better not to slit the cour and show the entire thing as a 26-episode-series, then the BluRay/Dvd-sale would've been better.
With the split, people got a little estranged from the series again in the meantime.

I'm honestly not sure that made too much of a difference, since the home media releases started shortly after the first set of episodes aired, and they didn't start particularly high in the first place. Even if it were continuing to air, I don't know that it would have risen even more in prominence (plus one could argue that the particular format of the anime could potentially get a bit a stale if taken all in one sitting).

In all honesty, I think it's just a case of it not quite being the right show at the right time to catch on fire. There were a lot of other shows in the Fall season that just caught people's imagination a bit more, and the home media buying community only has so much money to spend. It's not as if it's an abject failure, but it's just "middling". Unfortunately, though, that may prevent the show from getting a sequel. Wouldn't be the first or last time that an otherwise decent show just fails to sell as it arguably should (heck, a lot of the shows that I personally love were abject failures in sales).

On the positive side, it wouldn't surprise me to see this show do decently well if it were licensed for English markets, as it seems to me that this series is almost getting more attention in the English community than it's getting at home. But that is assuming, of course, that the English fanbase puts their money where their mouth is and actually buys the stuff. Not always a guarantee...

You know... this is Manglobe's best selling series in Japan lol....

MANGLOBE

*3,097 *3 Kami Nomizo Shiru Sekai
2218 13 Samurai Champloo
2146 6 Seiken no Blacksmith
1998 9 Ergo Proxy

I couldn't find any figures for Michiko to Hatchin and Sarai-ya Goyou... I also doubt Deadman Wonderland will do that well.

This is it's best selling series? Is Manglobe going to survive? But ya, for some reason I think this series would be a surprise hit in the US if it's released here.

They seemed to do alright ever since they were first founded in 2002. They came out with an anime series every year (or even that), but they seem to be working a lot harder this year with this season 2, Deadman Wonderland, and the Hayate movie. Kind of surprising they don't put out more shows though because their animation quality's actually really good. Can't wait to see how good the Hayate movie looks.
