I have about six glass cases in two rooms, with possible spots for two more.

I'm currently in Japan. Yesterday I went to Tokyo and spent pretty much the entire day in Akihabara. Naturally I ended up looking at a lot of anime-figurines... Including one that I tried ordering from RightStuf ages ago but never got because they only had five in stock and never restocked it, ever...
The new figurines I got yesterday being the Sayaka-figma and the Revoltech Gurren Lagann that are having an epic battle in the background. The slightly smaller Madoka-figure I just picked up at HMV on a whim a while back, and the two Choppers and Sanji were stuff I won at a game-center. Incidentally I also have a figma of Kyouko from PMMM, but that's back at my family's house in Norway. The figurines on the picture are all the ones I currently have here in Japan.

Use LEDs! There are easy to set-up LEDs such as DIODER and such. Although since last year IKEA changed DIODER from the old cool white to warm white (a.k.a piss yellow) so I'd suggest using alternatives. I used 4-bar kit from http://www.barlighting.com/ I posted the differences in the Japanese 2ch display case thread I regularly lurk on. Current DIODER Spoiler:
Bar Lighting LED strips Spoiler:
Keep in mind these are only temporarily placed for testing purposes, I didn't use triangular bars to angle the LEDs in these pictures. It's also heck of a lot brighter than shown in the photos, I have my exposure set really low so light doesn't interfere with picture quality. Properly tilted (using triangle acrylic rods cut in sizes) the light extends very well Spoiler:
I have like six glass cabinet towers for figures through out my place, all equipped with LEDs. Oh, btw, I'm not really crapping on DIODER's yellowness... it goes very well with less colorful, subtle objects. It's just that cool white is much more preferable for bishoujo anime figures. warm white goes well with army figures, One Piece Grandline Men series with their faded look, Hot Toys, etc.
