I liked the trailer and I think it suits the manga, but I think a lot of people will get away from it.

OK, that’s decent. I kind of had in mind Silver Link, but for JC Staff that’s a more than competent key staff group.

Now we just have one more massive bullet to dodge - Kaji Yuuki.

I think the bigger bullet is the russian roulette we're gonna play: which of J.C. Staff's 4 anime this coming cour would be the subject of poor animation. This cour (Spring 2018) the loser was Shokugeki no Soma with it's wonderful powerpoint presentation of dishes, so hopefully it won't be Hi Score Girl next season since they're already resorting to 3D. XD

A manga about retro games gets a 3D adaptation. Oh, the irony.

Indeed. Playing with some powerful irony there.

Not sure I'll get into this one. The CG shows can be really hit or miss on whether they look good or I just can't stand looking at them. The teaser's haven't been bad, but will have to see how the first few episodes play out.

well to be honest with the improviment of 3d animation and less use of 2d, at one point will be normal 2d anime finally vanish and we have only 3d, because specially the complexity is to make 2d scenes compared with 3d, so far you have some good exemples of 3d animations in western, the problem is just asian which still having problems toward 3d animations, but as soons they start to manage to pull really good quality 3d animations will be just a matter of time until it get replaced.

I disagree with that, personally. If it were just a matter of economics that would have happened already, as it did in the States. But this is the land of wabi-sabi - and anime is a peculiar medium, both in terms of the buying public and the creative class. 3D will no doubt continue to increase its share, but I think drawn animation will continue to be a prestige product in anime indefinitely.

The problem is not just "economic ofcourse" we have more issues here, one them being a big one is "fanbase" we still have the majority of pepples only accepting "anime as 2d" and nostalgia effect still a issue" many 3d attempts suffered a lot for that, just being 3d was enough to get peoples hating and bash without give any chance this really make hard to "make the change.

Well for me don't matter if 2d or 3d aslong it's funny and good no problem.

They already have great works, but unfortunately only bad works become part of people's memories.

Houseki no Kuni and Sidonia no Kishi are made in CG and are highly praised by anime fans, they are even a commercial success. And even Ajin and Bubuki Buranki are also well received, not to mention Blame and Godzilla, of course there are some bad works (Berserk, Souten no Ken), but if we are talking about only works entirely made in CG without mixing with 2D, the good ones outweigh the bad ones.

But it is true that there is a prejudice among anime fans, many fans are conservative.

Bubuki Buranki has an incredible CG, I do not understand why the series is not popular.

Yeah that is the problem as long we have a majority very conservative and which only "remember" or talk too much about the bad ones that will be the big problem and barrier for animes transition from full 2d to 3d, it really will take a lot of time.
