Next episode preview suggest a two parter for MI. Episode 11 and first half of episode 12 will likely be the darkest hour for our Kanmusu with Fubuki Team managing to pluck victory off the jaws of despair and defeat.

So, 1st carrier div members are Akagi, Kaga, Hiryuu, Souryuu, Fubuki and Yuudachi right?

We can assume that Akagi and Kaga will survive in anime but I really worry about the fate of Hiryuu and Souryuu. They seem to be characters that anime can kill off without getting much negative reaction from fans (like Kisaragi).

Those "shitstorms" were directeded toward the acknowledgement that this anime has the gut to kill off its character and people afraid that their favorite one may get killed.

I don't think I saw many "NOOOO not Kisaragi-channnnn" or "I will go burn studio!!!!!" kind of comments back then. These kind of comments are what I meant when I said "negative reaction".

Japanese audience grieved that part, but I never saw strong negative reactions towards that choice or the studio either.
It did happen a bit with the western audience that plays the game, but they aren't the target demography anyway so it doesn't matter.

Just remember, if you keep wanting the historical card, all four First and Second Division carriers sink during Operation MI.

I wonder if it will be First Fleet with the four carriers and Yudachi and Fubuki, or if they will split the carrier groups so that it is Akagi and Kaga with Fubuki and Yuudachi, along with two other ships. Mutsuki staying with Mogami, Hiryu and Soryu.

Man, it would really suck if they follow history for the cast, because then there would be a military personnel that goes, "wait, WWII happened, and we are repeating our mistakes? There MUST be a problem with our tactics!" xD

It's already going on a different direction. They're already aware the enemy can intercept their communications and are going to even use a coded name for where they're attacking so the enemies won't be expecting them at MI base.

If they really follow history, then the fact that Fubuki is the destroyer escort for Akagi means that things are about to become as fucked up for her as they can possibly get.

I'm wondering whether they'll have the nerve to sink all the characters whose originals were sunk at the real Battle of Midway, or whether they'll chicken out and have a Big Heroic Happy Ending to avoid the wrath of fanboys screaming "YOU SANK MAI WAIFU!"

I'm hoping they'll take the risk and go for accuracy.

Sticking to history accuracy wouldn't make sense considering the situation is drastically different (aware that the codes have been broken, using another code in case, Fubuki with AAFD).
That said, it would be a bit silly that there is no casualty (and speaking of which, they still didn't confirm what happened to Shouhou), so all the death flag on Akagi might trigger full force.

You may not like what you wish for, because you have to remember that, historical, Akagi burned for about 9 hours before Maikaze was ordered to sink her. Now, seeing that there is no Maikaze in the series, I'll give you three guesses as to who gets that "honor", and the first 2 don't count...

I'm not really into Akagi but I would like an aftermath episode focused on Kaga dealing with the sinking of Akagi.

That's why I said Fubuki being where she is will make things really screwed up for her if they decide they want to go for "accuracy."
