A good one is chapter 8 first battle, ~40000 XP & 90000 DCT per trip.

So... what exactly does the "true ending" actually add or change? I'm hitting chapter 16 soon and am still wondering if I'm going to bother with this true ending.

The "True" Ending is kind of a misleading title, since it's technically more an "extended" ending showing what happens after the "normal" ending. It's only really worth it to complete the story as it were, especially if you liked a certain character.

So I ended up unlocking and doing as many Squad Stories as I possibly could before attempting chapter 16.

True ending getto! First Valkyria game I played to the end. I don't think I'll aim for a complete play through, just enough to get a few more trophies.

What a ride! I really enjoyed my time with it everything from the stress of planning to the thrill of executions. Missions with boss units in them are very stressful while the squad stories with unique set up and limited character selections I have the most fun with.

Story-wise everyone definitely grew on me since the start, even those that started with a bad impression I'm now glad I followed them to the end. For the main characters they became more interesting when the moral lines became blurry near the end. For the side characters the Squad stories help out a lot, there are some throw away ones for sure but a good number really increase a side character's likeability.

How many recruitable squad members are there? I recall from VC1 that there was a huge amount, like 40 or something.

Spoiler for True Ending Story Stuff: I just wish the epilogue did more to sure what happened with the other characters after the war. We only saw Waltz and Crymaria, Leena and Angie, and Claud and Riley. What about the Navy personnel? What about the other Squad E semi-main characters like Miles, Dan and Karen? What about Squad F's survivors, specifically Minerva?!?! Btw pretty devious of the devs to use the OTP ending as the 'True Ending' and make people work their ass off for it lol.
