NxF may be "bland" but it's all but canon. The only thing preventing it from being so is a verbal declaration and some on-screen naughty business. My shipping patterns tend to follow canon evidence as closely as possible, hence why I ship Nanoha/Fate, Teana/Subaru and Caro/Erio.

Though I'm getting the suspicion that Due's missing because she's getting ready for her date with Jail. That would be cute. Though your portrayal of Tre makes her even more of an ass than I'd have thought, seeing as how she's basically forcing Sette to stay up in that prison post-StrikerS. Sein and the Nakajima Four are basically the incarnation of win, though.

Adorable as that'd be... Due's missing because she spent all of StrikerS and like years prior deep undercover working for the brains in jars. Tre's not meant to be an ass as much as... thoughtless. She's one of the less human numbers.

A lot of people are like that with a lot of series. It's no big deal. I love yuri, but eh i'll read and write what I like and the reasons for not reading are greater and shallower than just a pairing within. I don't often know why i havn't read some stories. Turth be told, I have not even touched amber dreams and I read the synopsis and I like it so woo.

<.< and i'm confused. Liking or not liking something ought to be respected as their choice. why would liking something cause lack of respect? There's no problem here less you make one

The meeting room had been intended to be important places of strategic discussion. The long table was designed to just cozily fit all of the Numbers, the Doctor, Zest and Lutecia. The table had seen speech after speech on the importance of their duty, on the extent of Jail's obsession, on what lunch would be. However, it'd never seen such a... unique lecture.

Sein stood at the front with a giant pad of paper. The rest of Numbers I-XII (with II missing for obvious reasons) sat around the table some watching curiously, some paying not the least bit of attention. Jail sat at the very front with his own pad, taking rigorous notes.

The 6th number flipped back a sheet of paper, it read: Woman=Flower. “Women are delicate flowers!” She smacked the piece of paper, “You can be rough and pluck them out of the ground and enjoy them only for a little while. Or you can be gentle and water them and give them tender loving care and enjoy for a long while.”

Jail scribbled notes down then he paused and posed a question, “Hmm... What does... 'Plucking' entail.”

“Worldly” Sein rubbed her chin, “Well you know should she invite you back to her place-”

Jail cut her off, “What would I want to do at her place?”

Sein grinned like an old pervy grandpa, “If she offers you some 'coffee' you're all good sir.”

The scientist thought about this seriously. Then, he raised his hand up, “Would I offend her if I said I preferred tea?”

“Aha I don't think you get it sir...” Sein was torn between laughing and forcing Jail to spend more time in the real world. She shook it off, “Never mind let's go onto the date itself. When are you picking her up?”

“We're meeting there.”

Sein's eye twitched but then she regained her composure, “Okay fine, so you meet there. You should present her with flowers-”

“Bogonias are her favorite,” Dieci added in.

“-and then make sure to hold the door open for her.”

Jail raised an objection, “But doesn't Maria know how to open doors?”

Sein's palm met her face, “Yes sir, but it's common courtesy to open it for her.”

“Won't she think I'm belittling her? Like I don't even think she can manage holding open a door?”

Sein groaned, “You know what, I'll just,” she shook her head, he meant well but the Doctor could just be so DENSE, “show you.” Sein scanned the room, “Nove, Wendi come up here.”

“W-wait! Why us?” Nove protested as Wendi grabbed her arm and tugged.

“Because you two've already gotten to first base.”

“There are bases?” Jail was confused enough with this dating thing without there being bases too.

“Just ignore them,” Dieci sighed behind her Deed and Otto nodded in agreement.

“Now the once you're inside-” Sein dragged a table and chairs out from behind her pad of paper, “-the real judging begins. Everything you do at dinner will influence your chances of a second date.” Sein forced Nove and Wendi into the seats. “Observe.” Sein motioned to the two girls.

“Wendi is you, see how she's looking off to the side and not directly at her date at all times,” Sein tsk tsked, “This sends the message 'I don't think you're as hot as the girl over there' and will not lead to date too.”

She forced Wendi to face Nove, “Now she's sending the message, 'Hey baby, you're the only girl for me.' This will likely lead to date two.”

“S-sein having Wendi stare at me is really creepy,” Nove shivered.

“Shush Nove, who's the love guru here?” Sein smacked the piece of paper. “Part two, dinner conversation.” She flipped the paper. The new sheet read Acceptable Topics/Unacceptable Topics, “Nove! Wendi! Demonstrate.”

“Hah?” They both stared at Sein with open mouths.

“Chit chat!”

“Um... so...” Nove fumbled around, “Nice weather that we're having lately?”

“WRONG!” Sein dramatically pointed to the Unacceptable Topics column where the word 'Weather' was written. “No one wants to hear about the weather, it's boring. Try again.”

Wendi tried this time, “So umm I heard about this new-”

“INCORRECT!” She pointed to the Unacceptable Topics again, “Don't talk about yourself you narcissistic girl.”

Nove and Wendi shivered, “Sein-nee, you're cruel.”

Sein sighed, “Fine no demonstration.” She turned to Jail, “Listen Doctor there are topic do's and don'ts. For instance, don't talk about world domination, do talk about how much you love the TSAB.”

“But I don't love the TSAB,” Jail pointed out the obvious.

“But she doesn't have to know that, lying is the basis of all relationships.”

“No, no doctor, don't listen to her,” Dieci warned.

“Here are some more, do talk about love, justice, that new Magical Girl series on TV, puppies, kittens and her. Don't talk about hate, doomsday devices, books, cyborgs, science and yourself. Follow that and you'll be set.”

Jail copied down the list warily. “Okay but I'm not sure I'll have much to say about that tv show.”

Dieci sighed, “I'm telling you don't listen to her.”

Sein flipped the paper again, this time it read “things too look out for”, “look out for the signs your date isn't going well. For instance if she says she has to go to the bathroom that's really the international signal for 'I find the toilet more interesting then you.”

“But Sein-nee what if she just has to go to the bathroom,” Nove asked.

“Pssssh girls have better bladder control then that.”

Other things to look out for on the list included, “she remembers she has to 'walk the dog' or 'feed the cat' and “she has to go 'save the world' because she's really a super hero. She's not.”

Sein moved on to the final step. “Now the exit is almost as important as the entrance.” Sein nodded sagely, “You should get up first.” She nodded to Nove and Wendi to demonstrate.

Unfortunately the two of them getting scolded to hell and back had caused them to forget who was playing Jail. As a result they both stood up. Nove stood up a great deal faster and with more force than Wendi. As she stood the table was thrust forward and into Wendi, making the cyborg lose balance and start to fall forward.

Now, Nove still cared about Wendi no matter what she said, so she reached out for her trying to catch Wendi before Wendi hit the table.

Well at least she caught Wendi... though her hands were in a rather... awkward position.

Nove turned red. Wendi turned redder. Jail looked confused.

“Am I supposed to do that too?”

Sein coughed into her hand, “Congratulations you two, you've just gotten to second base.”

“Heh, they're having fun aren't they?” Cinque poured Tre a cup of tea as she watched the playful younger Numbers. “I almost wish I could join in, don't you, Tre?”

“Not particularly,” she sipped her tea. Tre's eyes flickered between the younger numbers and Uno, Quattro, and Sette. Uno seemed to be enjoying the show, and Sette showed her usual disinterest. Quattro, however, looked nothing short of disgusted, her mask having fallen when she thought no one was watching. “This game of the doctor's will end soon and life will return to as it was.”

Cinque cocked an eyebrow, “You don't think it could end happily ever after for him?”

“I do not. It cannot. Even if he were to somehow truly fall in love with that girl, and she to fall in love with him despite his everything, there would still be the issue of the high council and the Doctor's status as an intergalactic criminal,” Tre spoke strongly but softly so the others could not hear her.

“How depressing.” Cinque laughed, “But even if there is no hope. Even if there is no chance, humans show amazing tenacity and display an inability to give up.”

“Then, it is a pity that the Doctor is not human.”

Cinque fell silent, watching Tre's face.

“Try as a leopard might to change his spots he'll still find those spots are embroidered to his soul. The Doctor can try and try but the best he'll ever pull off is a mask of humanity. They're nothing but children playing pretend,” Tre sighed, “but I take back my previous statement. I do envy them. I cannot even pretend.”

Cinque sighed and lightly punched Tre on the shoulder. “Cheer up, you're depressing me.”

“H-Hah?” Tre couldn't keep surprise from over coming her.

“Even if it's only pretend, even if the dream will end, is it so bad to enjoy it while it lasts? Stop thinking deeply for a moment and relax. You're always telling Sette to act more human, perhaps you should take your own advice.”

“I will try,” a tiny smile crept up Tre's features. “But in the meantime,” she held out her cup, “could I have more tea?”

“But of course.”

Uno had always cut Jail's hair. At first it had been an act of convenience. She had been the only one around who could do it for the longest time. But over time it had evolved into a matter of comfort. Jail liked knowing Uno would always be there to cut his hair, in the insanity of his plans, in the chaos of things he could not and did not control it was nice to know that at least his hair would be cleanly cut.

With Uno snip snipping away at his mangy purple locks he could relax. More so then anything else, this was one thing he knew was going to be okay. “Thank you, Uno.”

Uno paused in her cutting to look confused, “For what?”

Jail chuckled softly, not maniacal laughed, just a light happy chuckled. “Nothing nothing.”

She finished up her work with a confused but happy smile. “There you go Doctor.”

Jail ran a hand through his neatened hair, much better. “It's wonderfu-”

“DOCTOR~~<3” The doors were thrown aside, Sein and company stood there, arms full of clothes. “It's time to pick out your outfit for tonight~”

“What's wrong with my everyday clothes?” Jail blinked in confusion.

They all exchanged looks and sighed.

“Looks like we still have a lot of work to do.”

In the end Jail was forced into an outfit the girls called “stylish” but he called uncomfortable. Still he trusted their judgment, even when they'd tied back his long hair into a short, stubby ponytail.

“Well girls it looks like we've done it,” Sein looked proudly upon their achievement.

They'd made it just in time, he had less than an hour until his date but he was completely prepared now. Well kind of. He'd had all the preparation possible but that didn't change the fact that his heart was going out of control. Or the fact that he was starting to sweat causing Wendi to desperately wipe him down with paper towels to keep his “hotness from washing away”.

Cinque looked on with a pleasant expression, “She'll fall for you right away sir.”

Jail's face lit up, “You really think so?” He looked like a puppy, eagerly awaiting praise. He sucked in a deep breath. “You're right, I'm Jail Scaglietti. This. This is nothing.” He grinned. “I can do this!” He headed right for the door.

“W-Wait you forgot the flowers!” Nove chased after him, with a large bouquet.

“Ack! And your cheat sheet of acceptable topics!” Sein dashed right behind.

“Doctor what about your car keys!” Wendi brought up the rear.

Cinque watched with an amused smile, it was going to be alright. It had to be. Or they would be stuck in this unending circle forever.

I'd actually meant the scene in the beginning to be a short one before the date but then it grew into taking up a whole part itself XD. Ah well.

Tre dragged it into seriousness there D: (Serious in my Humor? Preposterous) . But I thought it was necessary. As long as it was short crack I didn't have to address it but since it's growing it had to come up. I can't just change the way strikerS goes, as much as I want to. It can't work out. Tre might be quite the debby downer but she's right... It might suck but we know the ending of the story, we know what happens. :/ though please don't let that ruin your enjoyment there's still a little ways to go and I promise not to depress you

On a lighter not I was this close to making Cinque say "cheer up, emo kid" to Tre.

Without a doubt Tre is an ass. There's no way around it but I genuinely think (according to what I've read in the booklet from SSX and heard) that she's a little disturbed that Sette chooses to remain in prison as long as Tre refuses to go through rehabilitation.

I'm not sure what I'll do first, maybe a few shorts to get used to this new thing. One thing is for sure, it throws off the feel of writing when typing on something you're not used to. But, I like it. I can't wait to put some serious words on it. My last one was with me for...........all of my Nanoha stories. I felt like crying when I finally moved it from my desk (for those of you who don't know, water was spilt on it while I wasn't home).

But yeah, I just took my last final for the quarter and I have two whole weeks where I can focus on writing some more. Here's hoping the final chapter of Amber comes out >.<;;

I made an A in all of my classes. My Architecture class was a 97, Graphic Engineering was a 99, and my Materials and Processing came in last place with a 95. So this is my third quarter (out of 8) that I'll get a Highest Honors certificate. Hopefully when I go get a job as a drafter later on I'll have all 8. That should get me almost any position I want (hopefully).

Next Quarter I have all morning classes, and class starts at 8 AM instead of 9 AM.... Which means I have to leave my house at like 6:30 in the morning. Booooooo. But here's my new schedual:

Monday:Architecture II (We're going to be using Rivet instead of autoCAD. First I've heard of this program, I can't wait to use it!)

Wednesday: Rapid Visualization. (an art class, teaches us how to sketch and draw on the fly for what we have in mind. For when someone says "What will it look like?" we can quickly draw out a picture so they can understand it)

Friday:Math II (I hope it's the same teacher as my Math I that I took a bit ago...)

Nove turned red. Wendi turned redder. Jail looked confused.

“Am I supposed to do that too?”

Sein coughed into her hand, “Congratulations you two, you've just gotten to second base.”

“Heh, they're having fun aren't they?” Cinque poured Tre a cup of tea as she watched the playful younger Numbers. “I almost wish I could join in, don't you, Tre?”

“Not particularly,” she sipped her tea. Tre's eyes flickered between the younger numbers and Uno, Quattro, and Sette. Uno seemed to be enjoying the show, and Sette showed her usual disinterest. Quattro, however, looked nothing short of disgusted, her mask having fallen when she thought no one was watching. “This game of the doctor's will end soon and life will return to as it was.”

Cinque cocked an eyebrow, “You don't think it could end happily ever after for him?”

“I do not. It cannot. Even if he were to somehow truly fall in love with that girl, and she to fall in love with him despite his everything, there would still be the issue of the high council and the Doctor's status as an intergalactic criminal,” Tre spoke strongly but softly so the others could not hear her.

“How depressing.” Cinque laughed, “But even if there is no hope. Even if there is no chance, humans show amazing tenacity and display an inability to give up.”

“Then, it is a pity that the Doctor is not human.”

Cinque fell silent, watching Tre's face.

“Try as a leopard might to change his spots he'll still find those spots are embroidered to his soul. The Doctor can try and try but the best he'll ever pull off is a mask of humanity. They're nothing but children playing pretend,” Tre sighed, “but I take back my previous statement. I do envy them. I cannot even pretend.”

Cinque sighed and lightly punched Tre on the shoulder. “Cheer up, you're depressing me.”

“H-Hah?” Tre couldn't keep surprise from over coming her.

“Even if it's only pretend, even if the dream will end, is it so bad to enjoy it while it lasts? Stop thinking deeply for a moment and relax. You're always telling Sette to act more human, perhaps you should take your own advice.”

“I will try,” a tiny smile crept up Tre's features. “But in the meantime,” she held out her cup, “could I have more tea?”

“But of course.”

Uno had always cut Jail's hair. At first it had been an act of convenience. She had been the only one around who could do it for the longest time. But over time it had evolved into a matter of comfort. Jail liked knowing Uno would always be there to cut his hair, in the insanity of his plans, in the chaos of things he could not and did not control it was nice to know that at least his hair would be cleanly cut.

With Uno snip snipping away at his mangy purple locks he could relax. More so then anything else, this was one thing he knew was going to be okay. “Thank you, Uno.”

Uno paused in her cutting to look confused, “For what?”

Jail chuckled softly, not maniacal laughed, just a light happy chuckled. “Nothing nothing.”

She finished up her work with a confused but happy smile. “There you go Doctor.”

Jail ran a hand through his neatened hair, much better. “It's wonderfu-”

“DOCTOR~~<3” The doors were thrown aside, Sein and company stood there, arms full of clothes. “It's time to pick out your outfit for tonight~”

“What's wrong with my everyday clothes?” Jail blinked in confusion.

They all exchanged looks and sighed.

“Looks like we still have a lot of work to do.”

In the end Jail was forced into an outfit the girls called “stylish” but he called uncomfortable. Still he trusted their judgment, even when they'd tied back his long hair into a short, stubby ponytail.

“Well girls it looks like we've done it,” Sein looked proudly upon their achievement.

They'd made it just in time, he had less than an hour until his date but he was completely prepared now. Well kind of. He'd had all the preparation possible but that didn't change the fact that his heart was going out of control. Or the fact that he was starting to sweat causing Wendi to desperately wipe him down with paper towels to keep his “hotness from washing away”.

Cinque looked on with a pleasant expression, “She'll fall for you right away sir.”

Jail's face lit up, “You really think so?” He looked like a puppy, eagerly awaiting praise. He sucked in a deep breath. “You're right, I'm Jail Scaglietti. This. This is nothing.” He grinned. “I can do this!” He headed right for the door.

“W-Wait you forgot the flowers!” Nove chased after him, with a large bouquet.

“Ack! And your cheat sheet of acceptable topics!” Sein dashed right behind.

“Doctor what about your car keys!” Wendi brought up the rear.

Cinque watched with an amused smile, it was going to be alright. It had to be. Or they would be stuck in this unending circle forever.

I'd actually meant the scene in the beginning to be a short one before the date but then it grew into taking up a whole part itself XD. Ah well.

Tre dragged it into seriousness there D: (Serious in my Humor? Preposterous) . But I thought it was necessary.

When did it start?

That was a question I asked myself many, many times. When I first saw you, you were hurt, a child that had been through so very much. I felt something then, but it was nothing more than wanting to help out a victim of war.

Then Nanoha adopted you, and I smiled. I had an unofficial niece then. I remember talking to you and reading stories at bedtime. I loved the little ball of energy that I could look after.

After a while the JS incident occurred. Just for a moment you became a full grown teen, not three years younger than myself, but with the weight of the world on your shoulders. Your eyes were bright with intelligence and knowledge of how things worked, and I stopped in fear for a brief moment. I wanted to help you so bad, but I could only lend my assistance from the back.

Yes, back then it was simple. So when did it change? Perhaps with the adult mode you were given. You were both a teenage and a child at the same time. You were smart and fast enough to train with adults, but innocent enough to wear your backpack on both straps while skipping with your friends. Did it start then? Was that when I realized you were more than just a child? I don't know.

When you graduated high school, it was already happening. Respect, admiration, and confidence were all placed on you then. When you applied to be in my battalion, I was so very happy. For reasons that I couldn't really explain, I was pleased that you would be near. We decided to go out that night since your parents were away.

I took you to Fuji's didn't I? I didn't think much about it at the time, just that you were now with us. With me. We toasted each other and I saw you take your first drink of whiskey, Fate's favorite. You made such a funny face then, scrunching your nose and smacking your lips. I couldn't help but laugh at you and I offered to buy you something neater, like a strawberry daiquiri.

You accepted reluctantly and I propped my chin on my palm, watching you. The girl I knew was a women now. You were mature, and something clicked. I realized my feelings then, shocked and appaled at myself for even thinking about it. I mean, you were so much younger than me, not to mention my best friend's daughter!

But you felt the same. For whatever reason you had, you liked me. Respected me. Admired me. I should have stopped it there but I couldn't. We were both tipsy and our judgment was lost. We did something that I'm sure your parents wouldn't approve of.

Now, as I sat in bed with the sheets to my chin, I wondered what had exactly changed by our actions. Would you be scared? Appalled? Angry? Would you hate me?

I felt you stir in the bed and saw your heterochromic eyes flutter open. I knew at once you were hung over, but something happened then. your eyes met mine and I smiled fondly down at you....

And you smiled back..

The toy sword hit the ground with a thud; clutching her wrist, eight-year-old Miyuki plopped down beside it, fighting back angry tears even as the pain stung at her pride. “Kyou-chan!” she wailed. “You cheated!”

“I did not.” Frowning, the ten-year-old boy lowered his own toy sword.

“You said you wouldn’t aim for my wrist!”

“It’s not my fault! You were slow!”

Miyuki’s lower lip trembled dangerously. Desperate to prove his innocence, Kyouya looked around. “I didn’t cheat!” he insisted, and his eyes fell upon Elise, the same age as him, who was absently playing around with a water gun. “Right, Elise?”

The blonde blinked, looking up from her toy. “Sorry,” she said with a shrug. “I wasn’t watching.”

Kyouya deflated at that; being only ten he’d never admit it, but he’d been hoping to impress her with his moves. Realizing she wasn’t going to get any support, Miyuki began to whimper.

“Honestly, you two.” A flurry of skirts and long light brown hair, twelve-year-old Fiasse Crystera gently knelt beside Miyuki, wiping away a few tears that had leaked free. “I told you not to practice your sword fighting here. Elise doesn’t even like swords.”

Sniffling, Miyuki latched onto Fiasse’s waist. “He cheated,” she said as the older girl gently ran a hand through her hair. “He said he wouldn’t hit my wrist, but he did.”

Fiasse shot Kyouya a look over Miyuki’s head. Grumbling, the boy kicked at the grass. “I did not,” he muttered. “She moves slow.”

Fiasse sighed. “Kyouya, your father said Miyuki’s still learning.”

“So? It isn’t my fault she wanted to fight.” Once again, Kyouya sought out Elise.

The blonde sighed, giving her water gun a quick shake and pleased by the sound of water sloshing around inside, indicating it was full; Tiore or Alfred must have filled it when she wasn’t looking. “I told you, Kyouya, I wasn’t watching. Swords are stupid, anyway.”

In a flash Kyouya forgot about defending his honor; his brown eyes slowly narrowed. “Swords aren’t stupid.”

“Yeah they are.” Enjoying herself immensely, Elise scrambled to her feet and took aim. “They’re slow and take too long to hurt the bad guy. You can hurt bad guys a lot faster with guns.”

Fiasse sighed. Such violent imaginations, she thought. They were only ten.

And then, to prove her point, Elise squeezed the trigger.

Kyouya stared blankly at the dark wet spot on his chest before he slowly lifted his eyes; Elise was giggling like a fiend even as she started to back up, a tight grip still on her water gun. After several minutes, Kyouya lifted his sword. “You realize,” he said solemnly, “this means war.”

That did it.

With a shriek of delight Elise hurtled away, a tiny golden bullet all on her own, and Kyouya was hot on her heels. Fiasse watched the pair streak into the hallways of the School, laughing and squealing. She heard Kyouya shout, and knew Elise must have landed another shot. “Should I break them up?” she wondered.

Miyuki shook her head and snuggled, fully enjoying her current position. “No,” she said. “Kyou-chan deserves it anyway. He cheated.”

Fiasse giggled and gently ruffled Miyuki’s hair. “I guess you’re right,” she murmured. Miyuki grinned up at her before she noticed the golden cross that hung around her neck; it was small, with a purple stone set in the center, and she hadn’t been wearing it earlier.

“Where’d you get that cross, Fiasse?”

Fiasse smiled. “My father gave it to me.”

Miyuki reached up and gently rested a hand against the stone, her eyes curious. “It’s really pretty,” she murmured.

Fiasse giggled again.

“Thanks, Miyuki.”

1. Foreshadowing at the end with Fiasse getting Sweet Song from her father, who is still very much alive and well at this point in the timeline.

2. Some Miyuki/Fiasse and Kyouya/Elise if you tilt your head and squint, but really, they're just kids here. They're just having fun in their own way... though somehow I think Miyuki ended up bearing the brunt of the teasing and violence as a kid.

3. Speaking of Miyuki, according to the OVA Triangle Heart: Sweet Songs Forever, Miyuki's mother, Misato, is Shiro's sister. So Miyuki is related to Nanoha and Kyouya by blood, since I remember there was a brief debate about that. Puts a whole new spin on "Sisters", in any case...
