Because there's a public for it. When there's a demand, a supply will appear.

It has both good and bad aspects to it. Good because it helps build the men to be protectors of the family, not weak ass, easily offended manginas like Westeen men today. Bad because of its sexist nature, women can't be too strong or they'll be considered bad for marriage (again, an Asian thing where marriage is still a woman's goal)

If you think that readers will start confusing fiction and reality, you'll think they act as reinforcement for those fetishes. On the other hand, if you think readers won't confuse fiction and reality, you'll see those stories as either harmless, of acting as pressure relief for those who might be tempted to act on thier pulsions. As far as I'm concerned, I'd prefer an unstable guy to be using wipes before his screen, rather than staring at pretty girls in the streets.

^The younguns these day, they keep whining and whinig when they were told to do the laundry when there is already the washing machine or cutting the grass even though there is already the electronic grass cutter. That's because they got used to their easy life and grow ungrateful, those brats. Suffering and hard work are essential to grow into adult.

And about suffering, I think the line that Evangeline of Negima said explain it the best, happy families are all alike, but unhappy families each have their own suffering. Happy story in large dose are boring. Suffering is interesting and you will be happy when they surpass said suffering.
