Actually the angle of the scene in ep7 covers any sight of the booster. It comes from below on the right hand side and doesn't go high enough for the booster to be seen over the top of the wong. So it was probably more just how that scene was done rather than any screw up.

Which doesn't make any sense since they had to look over an area many lightyears in size. Besides, Alto and Michael were together, as were Luca and Ozma. Klan though, all by herself even though I think at least one of her Pixies was deployed with them (I believe I spotted a gray QR somewhere during the dispatch).

Alto and Michael responded unusually fast, but no one else showed up... That's one assumption if they didn't mention anything specifically. All I recall is Ozma saying "There's a high chance of it being in this sector" without a sector being quantified or how they determined there being a "high chance". I'd have been satisifed if they mentioned detected unknown and frequent Folds in the area, but no... |

That's the beauty of video format, you don't need to mention a lot of things, you just have to show it to the audience. The search area for this particular sequence was shown by panning the "camera" over the debris field near the Frontier fleet while Ozma talks about "this sector." Now if the camera pans over the entire star system and then some, then maybe I'll believe they're really searching across light-years. Besides why deploy VFs without fold boosters if it's really a search area light-years across? Because the writers didn't see the glaring plot hole?
Research can very well do some actuarial magic with the attack data that they have to locate a possible staging area. It's been done since WW2, just that they can't do it fast enough then with those room-size computers. |
