Your Favorite Character(s) in Macross Frontier

After just watching the series last week, I'd say my favourite characters were Klan and Ozma.

I hated Michel at the start but came to like him as it went on

I am sorta assuming that people found something in her character or a flaw in the whole franchise released for her that drove them to now hold hate for her. A lot of Sheryl fans have also turned to hating her on the Internet. I do not know why.

But I assure you, Matts; there is hate for Sheryl out there that is suddenly exploding all over the Internet. This is just one person who's finally brought it to attention.

Wars? Nope, sorry, not seeing it, other than the 3 regulars on twitter who have been sourgraping since SnT came out anyway and I try to do my best to avoid them by now. As for polls, most people either don't know or care about them, I voted in like 1 and only because someone posted it in the Sheryl tag on tumblr and I bumped into it. Not like they matter, at least not on the internet. She is doing fine where it matters and I'm more than happy with that.

There have been people who hate Sheryl for a long time -its nothing new. She's a character that inspires strong feelings on both sides of the fence.

As for whom she may or may not have lost to in LJ polls -exposure matters in those kind of polls. And with no official English market release Frontier's exposure among the English speaking anime fandom is not what it could be.

The one character I loved in UC was Haman, but she is no longer with us... *le sigh*

Though in general, I love UC more than other Gundam franchises, despite the existence of these dysfunctional individuals. Then again, maybe thats what made UC work...

I can confirm is true. We started I hate Sheryl fanclub in the treehouse in my backyard. Wifi connectivity from house means it's on internet.

I think the term for this is vocal minority. Yes there are people out there who hate Sheryl loudly proclaim it to the world however, judging into account the amount of people we see cosplaying her, how well the official merchandise based on her sells, the fact that she has the most fanart and fan merchandise, and the fact that she's still on the polls despite the fact that her series ended the people who like her greatly outnumber the people who dislike her.

However, here is a funny truth while Sheryl haters are quite loud about hating Sheryl, Sheryl fans have stopped caring about the Sheryl haters, and therefore they don't respond to them, or just avoid them altogether. The so called "hate wars" LMK are referring to are nothing new, they've always been around, but they seem one-sided right now since no one (not the Sheryl fans or the neutral fans) responds to them anymore.

Those polls are BS, they don't really tell you anything since people were making deals with each other in the comments section to have others vote for their favorite character. Also Sheryl hate bursting all over the internet? Well then it must not be under the Macross Frontier or Macross tags, because I don't see them, and no You Tube comments don't count.

From my experience, Ranka gets hated on a lot more than Sheryl, though it's what someone in here had said already: both girls get their share of hate. Opposite personalities tend to inspire splits among a fanbase, like Rei and Asuka from Evangelion as one example, and Lelouch and Suzaku from Code Geass as another. If there seems to be a large amount of Sheryl hate, chances are that it's only concentrated on isolated places with the minority being loud as fuck. Obviously it's apparent regardless, but bursting all over the internet = inaccurate exaggeration, to be frank.

Even Pixiv can vouch for this! That site has about 293039480394 Sheryl/Alto fanart whereas on the Alto/Ranka end... it might as well have crickets chirping in the background with tumbleweeds floating along aimlessly. Okay, so A/R still has some decent amount of fanart, but still...
