Hmm, how is "sticking to the source" even still an argument for the direction of this anime, when it has already chosen to change things very fundamentally? Life/death, timeline of events, relationships, other minor things.
At this point, any further alterations, good or bad should be fair game. The whole "this is a faithful retelling of the manga" thing went out of the window in episode three.

Precisely! If they had the gall to do stuff like that, they could have studied things a little better and made a better adaption of the Manga.
Heck! I'd even feel good if they had done a reimagining of the whole thing as long as it kept the essence of the original story! Goodness... |

Faerie, I think there's a possibility that they would make changes in this anime reboot enough to satisfy the question marks that fans been holding since the 90's (referring to those who have read the manga)

It often seems like commentators here think this show was created largely to satisfy the desires of older Sailor Moon fans. Perhaps it's simply that Toei wants to generate a new audience for the series among young viewers today and isn't all that concerned with the established fan base. I find all these detailed criticisms a bit excessive, personally, because I don't think that's what the producers are looking to accomplish. I also think a show as fundamentally silly as Sailor Moon is never going to meet the standards of the people in this thread.
But, then, I watched maybe two episodes of the original series and never read the manga. So I can just watch this version as it unfolds and accept it for what it is -- a piece of fluffy entertainment.

In my case, no. All the while (especially those days when the reboot anime was still hearsay), I thought it was done to cater both the new and the old fans. Despite the numerous clarifications and explanations here, it did not come to a point that I am ranting and raving with the flaws, imperfections, and expectations in this anime just because I have been a Sailor Moon fan since 1996. But I respect your views about it and nothing else

Oh God, she is fighting Mamoru but not the one she is used to. Hope they can take on him next time as it seems like his powers has increased with that brainwashing; kinda ironic since he can hypnotize others as well.

Episode 10
That's what I wanted to properly expressed with my words. Simply put, who cares if they were lovers? That fact from the past doesn't contribute with anything in the current plot. It was sort of a convenient device to snap the shitennou out of the trance, if only temporarily, from what it looked like to me. |

For Act 11, I thought it was pretty well done. The transformations was nice since we haven't seen much group transformations in a while and it really makes them seem like a team. The introduction speeches were a bit overkill. While I actually sort of miss the transformations in each episode, I like how it's done in Crystal: sparse and only when needed. By the way, is it just me or do each episode in Crystal seem a lot shorter compared to any episode in the classic anime? |

A good episode. Thank god the shitennou revelations didn't have a lot of impact. I have a theory about it Usagi fall in love with Mamoru all over again on Earth, while the others had never seen them as normal people, never felt in love with them in this time line, so they remember them at all, but that's all, except for Venus eventually. They might make something to help their master, before their death and there will be no conventional relationships in the present - still better that way. And the actual episode - Rei was kind a strict with Usagi for once, a little too violent with brainwashed Makoto and blindly fearless against evil Endymion - love her being like this, yet not a bitch. Minako was soooo cute and poor Luna... The transformation thing dragged the episode a little, but we haven't seen them transform in a while and this was the last transformation till the end of the first story arc, so I am ok with it. Kotono was spot on this time, the art was ok most of the time. God bless Beryl and her psychotic voice. Can't wait for the next episode.

The episode was great but bittersweet. Quite sad that they have to remove one cool part in Act 11
Spoiler for Manga Act 11 Minor Spoilers:
Regardless of this, I can't wait for the next episode.

I tend to differ a bit on the eleventh episode.
It was rushed jumping from one scene to the next one, until all the girls have gathered at the Command Center. Second, humans in Sailor Moon universe are easily malleable in terms at getting manipulated or possessed by evil forces, and this new iteration of Sailor Moon isn't an exception. Nevertheless, I appreciated it for those little situations that many you described above: 1. Minako blushing out of embarrassment at the thought of being deemed suspicious carrying the sword. 2. Rei being harsh on Usagi scolding her. 3. Makoto taking action confronting Mamoru and Motoki at the game center. Still, another thing that troubles and bugs me is how come it never dawned on Sailor Moon to use Moon Healing Escalation on Mamoru? And, please, don't give that whitewash stuff that all girls believed that he was a fake, until Beryl arrived and told them otherwise. |

I'm scratching my head about the scene in Ami's room a couple of minutes after the above when Minako takes said sword and breaks a diamond with it... just how much of an allowance does Ami get to wave off the fact that the diamond broke? Her mom maybe a doctor, and she may have picked the ring from the clearance cases at Osa-P, but still...

I kinda remember that at this point her relationship with her mother was not all smooth. She respects her mother but some of the implications gave the vibes of them being distant, which makes me think that Ami doesn't really care one way or another that one of her mother's diamonds broke apart. Their relationship will be even clearer in later arcs, which I really want the anime to be able to go that far.
