IIRC not the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. In Star Wars (aka New Hope) he's still a modest man, not the "wacky" one like we have post-Star Wars re-release.

Btw, we're going off-topic here. If you still wanna say something about Lucas & Indiana Jones, feel free to PM me.

Star Wars was made good via editting. It won an Academy Award for editting.
Lucas already did Ewok films and a cartoon in the 80s. (There is even a Ewok Village MMO in Beta currently) Edit: Starwars.com updated with the news

But in case you don’t know, many fans consider that Lucas has changed from his earlier days, and it’s for the worst. He’s “not the same guy anymore". Let’s call him, in the 70s and 80s, George Lucas while, after Star Wars re-release, we call him Lucas Mk.II. Now if I should re-phrase my earlier statement, it would be like this: The original Star Wars Trilogy are good because Lucas Mk.II wasn’t directing them.

I've seen some of the cuts for Star Wars before the editors got to it...Lucas can make a good universe and a story. Directing it though...not so much. It was the editting that made Star Wars awesome. Fast paced and very 30s serials inspired. What is fortunate is that he would take so many takes they editors could slice them together with quick cuts to keep the "faster, more intense" direction going on the big screen.
The Clone Wars is going well in its fifth year. It might be the final year since it was originally pitched as 100 episode or so long. It might last for a sixth season, but that will have to be a very dark season to lead up the Revenge of the Sith. (Clone Wars Anakin is a lot better than the film Anakin in terms of acting skill).

Actually I'm much more excited about the spin-off potential than what they'll do with the canon movies (which will prolly be done in the lamest, most conventional way possible).
Can you imagine a Pixar version of Star Wars: Bounty Hunters. Boba Fett and IG-88 in beautiful Pixar 3D? It would be ******* awesome. Quote:

Technically, the new movies will still be made by Lucasfilms. Just that Lucasfilms will be under Disney Corperation.
The people involved will likely stay nearly the same, because those are the skilled people of the industry. Industrial Light and Magic has been doing Disney stuff for years. The likely major changes will be direction in the films...and perhaps the openning credits style (which got Lucas in hot water with the Unions...the reason he had ot direct the prequals instead of just letting Spielberg do it like he intended to at first).

The Pirates movies were pretty good, of course that can be credited to the director of said films. I'm interested to see where Disney decides to go with this, if they choose to pick a starting point from already establish EU canon or create their own trilogy for VII-IX.

This is going to play hell with SW canon. It's not a surprise most of the Expanded Universe attention has been focused recently on the Knights of the Old Republic era--because it's too far back to be fucked up by Lucas ignoring his own established canon.

I remember an old girlfiend who was mostly fine with Star Wars until Attack of the Clones "changed" Boba Fett. She absolutely hated that he was a Maori instead of the guy who what under the suit in the Empire Strikes Back (who she'd met, I think she was "in love" with his character as represented by the older films and the EU up to that point) I think she wrote it all off after that. Don't remember if she ever went to see Revenge of the Sith.
