If the above CBS trailer is blocked for some people, here's a more accessible trailer from Space:

ST: Picard is set 20 years after Star Trek: Nemesis, and also involves the events of Star Trek (2009), specifically the destruction of Romulus, hence the mention of the 'rescue armada' in the trailer.

I haven't been excited for a Star Trek series in like 20 years almost; actually moving forward instead of remake and prequels and stuff.

I’m pretty sure that’s intentional. His eyes, facial structure, it was all “off.” But the “dead” Data we saw earlier in the trailer (in separate parts) looked right. (yes I know it was fake props, what I mean was it didn’t look “off”) This makes me think the Data we see at the end of the trailer is a “makeshift” body they had to make with secondhand materials, thus resulting in a somewhat distorted body.

What threw me off was Seven. She was my favorite character in Voyager alongside Janeway and the Doctor. It was whacky seeing her with such emotion. Somebody’s gotten some practice, it seems.....

I'm assuming this is B-4, Data's "not so functional" sibling of which Data probably transferred consciousness. I felt like B-4 was meant to be an out should Brent Spiner choose to return. Of course, Nemesis was utterly crap so most people aren't going to get that point or maybe even realize Data died in the first place.

But then again they ass pulled Spock back to life in III, so why the hell not, given Data has much more of an excuse to do such a thing.

Well, she dated Chakotay, the only guy more wooden than a Borg drone. Someone had to pick up the slack.

Well Data has options. B-4 was suppose to have his memories, so that's a start. Starfleet also has Lore's disassembled body in storage. And then of course there is the Holodeck.

It has been what, around 20 years? Makes sense she'd be a bit better with emotions. I found it heartening that they decide to update Seven's character rather than having her act the way she did on Voyager as a homage.

I think you missed my point slightly.

I know it’s been a while since Voyager and I wouldn’t expect her to be the same deadpan Seven either, but that’s still one heck of a difference regardless. In a good way.

No one talking about Hugh being back, huh? That's a storyline with a ton of potential.

We aren't sure yet in what capacity Hugh is in by I guess 2399. Its been something like 30 years since he was liberated from the Collective, if I remember the story correctly. That and Admiral Nechayev was rather ticked with Picard for not using him as a computer virus carrier into the Borg.

Perhaps the best Star Trek series since TNG. Stewart is phenomenal, and it's nice to see Alison Pill along for the ride. But the best new character by far is Raffi with a star turn for actress Michelle Hurd. Her calling Picard "JL" is so hilariously inappropriate.

You may want to try the tie-in novel, "Star Trek: Picard: The Last Best Hope". It's excellent.

I agree about it being the best since TNG, though I confess Raffi isn't one of my favorite characters. To me she just doesn't seem to fit. I really enjoy Rios - he's discordant too but in a way that totally fits, if that makes sense. He and Picard make a wonderful contrast and I love the ridiculously Freudian spectacle of all his manifestations running around the ship as holograms.

Generally speaking this is by far the most tonally distinct of any ST television incarnation - which is clearly what drew Stewart back in, but also what's spurring some of the rather predictable criticism the show is receiving from some quarters.

So what's the verdict of season 3 (so far) too much fanservice?

Easter eggs and fan service designed to fit the story are welcome. Others being where they are that makes sense also works.

Seeing some of those starships is therapeutic for some fans. Never though we would see some of those ships ever again.
