Mysterious Girlfriend X (Nazo no Kanojo X) [anime]

Quote:
The February issue of Kodansha's Afternoon magazine is revealing on Saturday that Riichi Ueshiba's Nazo no Kanojo X (Mysterious Girlfriend X) romantic comedy manga will get a television anime adaptation. The announcement also notes that the limited edition of the eighth volume of the manga will bundle a drama CD when it is released on February 23.

The "unidentifiable love" manga revolves around Akira Tsubaki, who one day notices the anti-social transfer student Mikoto Urabe drooling on her desk while she is sleeping, and he tastes it. Eventually the two begin to date and get to know each other better. The manga has been running in Afternoon since 2006.

Ueshiba also created the Yume Tsukai manga, which received a 12-episode television anime adaptation from MADHOUSE in 2006.

I think this series could nicely benefit from an animated adaptation, esp for the longest arc of the series, which seemed mind-numbingly slow. Some added material should be easy to fit in too. I just hope it doesn't feel as repetitive as the later chaps of the manga to give more of a feeling that they're actually going somewhere with it all.

I didn't expect to see an anime made. I know I should focus on the anime, but I think I'll be enjoying people's reactions to the show more so.

Yup definitely waiting to see anime-only viewer's reactions to this series, and I'm not expecting good reactions hah

12 only? I want the recent chapters to be animated too! And I hope they'll be able to animate the School Festival Arc.

I have no intention to spam this thread but I think the title somewhat sounds like "Mystery Food X" in Persona 4.

Why? The manga is quite good, I'd expect the anime to be the same. I just hope that the sexual tension present whenever Urabe is involved gets to be adapted accurately.

Ah, come to think of it, I haven't read this for a long time...
...Where did I stop again?
(Rather, I completely forgot about this manga until this announcement today)

Second manga by same author, since Yume Tsukai, huh.

Kinda curious to find out who will be cast as the main heroine Urabe ... be kinda nice if they got Kana Hanazawa.

Third, actually. Such a shame not many know about Discommunication =0((Yume Tsukai is actually the spinoff of that series). Thinking about it now, the two mains in Discommunication have some similarities to the ones in MGX. It's been quite the nice read so far, even if the releases are slow as all hell =03.

Don't know this manga, but I did rather like the Yume Tsukai adaptation.

Am now 'drooling' with anticipation over this one. Twenty Twelve is shaping up to continue the awesome that returned last year. Yet another one penned in as a 'to watch' for me. I am so very happy now!

Yeah ... if you are curious you might check out the manga. It is kind of ... "odd" in the beginning, to be sure.

Surprised this is getting an anime. Never thought it would get one.

Read a few chapters of the manga a couple years ago. I'll probably wait for the anime than go back to read the manga.

Just read the manga. The first chapters are weird, but then we get to see it undergo some character development. And the drool is a plot device.

The author seems to think it's a bit sexy for a guy to taste the drool of the girl he likes. WTH is that fetish from ?
