Considering how anime literate the developers seem to be (with mentions of Gundam and Macross as inspirations for the Empire's units), I'm not really surprised.

Natasha Volkova is possibly a reference too, to the special unit Volkov who got introduced in RA:Counterstrike (but only showed up in perhaps 2 missions).
Also, I found some positive things about RA3: -I like the title screen music -Building on the water is a nice addition But that's all really. I can't bring myself to play through more. |

As mentioned in PC Gamer's review of RA3 in their Holiday 2008 issue, this game doesn't take itself the least bit seriously.
In one of the pic captions: "Nothing encapsulates the feel of RA3 like a giant, laser-sword-wielding, triple-samurai robot of doom." And the last sentence: "....any game in which a giant laser cannon pops out of Teddy Roosevelt's head on Mt. Rushmore is a winner in my book" - Dan Stapleton

The RA lines has been the butt of Jokes for the C&C series since part Deux. Anything too outrageous for C&C goes towards making RA a more enjoyable outing. I would love to see China debuting in RA4, now.
BTW, EA has annouced 3 different expansion pack for RA3. Each for the Americans, Russians and Japanese. Typical EA. Betcha the Japanese Expansion will be the bestselling outta the entire lot. |

A new mecha piloted by a loli with the ability to mentally signal a microwave cannon from the moon to power its suit up to fire a devastating beam. Or this new flying unit, maybe a hero version of the rocket girls. This loli with wings can mentally control a satelite in orbit to fire beams and destroy targets.

IIRC Supposedly the original Red Alert's style was supposed to be quirky like RA2 and 3, but they didn't have the graphical tech back then to portray it well. Take this with a grain of salt though.

This game is so incredibly fun. The fact that it doesn't take itself seriously is just the icing on the cake.
Spoiler for Allied Campaign Spoilers (endgame):
Seriously though I dunno what Sheep was whining about, I've been playing since beta and this game is so tightly balanced it's insane. |

For one thing, Empire sucks. Bad. Reallllly bad. Picking Empire is a surefire way to lose against good players. Allies fare better, but still usually get rolled by Soviets. |
