^ And I believe the hysterical (actually, probably disappointing) part of that is that Pacific Rim works precisely BECAUSE it's live action; otherwise it's just another SRW, as I believe got pointed out in another thread

Anyways, havng finally gotten around to it... I'll say the movie overall was good, but there was a certain charm that the first movie had that Uprising was lacking. Plus, who our villain ultimately was to me was a case of "Dammit!" And then that hint of how to make a Pacific Rim 3... well, let's just say that I don't expect 3 to happen, especially since unless they retcon/change some Very Important Stuff from the first movie, I just don't see that idea being pulled off.

But I will say this: the best part about the movie and what makes Pacific Rim such a beautiful thing... just watching Giant Robots and Giant Monsters brawl (and cause collaterral damage) makes me all giddy

Pacific Rim: The Black trailer for Japan, although it's in English with Japanese subs.

Watched the Netflix series. Very clunky at parts, but over all very enjoyable. Surprisingly darker than the movie.

So I just saw the first available batch of Pacific Rim: The Black anime episodes and it's pretty good.

First episode started rather bog standard but then it gets interesting fast. The sibling characters are fleshed out as well as some rich side characters. And the characters & their interaction are actually the strongest aspect of the story to the point where I care more for them than the Jaeger-Kaiju battles. The show even turned into some kind of mafia story at some point. But fear not, there are still enjoyable kaiju battles in this show.

Also, for those who are still in doubts or confused, the show acknowledged both the Pacific Rim & Uprising movie. The story happened after Uprising events. There's even a "character" who is a leftover from the Uprising events but used very well here.

All in all, the first 7 episodes are pretty enjoyable so far. I'd say it's better than Uprising.

The first episode felt like it came right out of Gundam. Stumble upon a mech, master it immediately (yeah, the brother was a cadet, but still), lots of people get killed.

I enjoyed the series, but I'm on the fence about Boy. What he was was obvious from the get-go, but what happens in the last episode is just... wut.

Man, I didn't realize how much I missed this show before I watch this trailer. I can't wait to watch the siblings adventure against the new enemies and how they will handle the "boy".

So it's gonna be the conclusion. It's a shame 'cause I think this show has potential.
