Airing on 10-7 via Tokyo MX. Sakurai and Shiho Kokido will participate in a state event to promote the show.

Episode 1:
Pretty good episode, animation style, and action were on par with the way it's done. Plus we got the main characters introduced including Shimazu. In the meantime, I really like the fantasy setting and the violence reflected in the story. Yoichi (the Traper archer) also has a cool feel to his personality. Might have to get used to the comedy at some timings but I think it works so far for the show. Catchy ED theme song and overall cool premiere, can't wait to see more.

Great first episode. Totally forgot that Drifter was getting an anime this winter. Looks like we are in for untamed violence and mature jokes. Hah, that "I thought that Ikemen was that famous Ranmaru." "Ha, I wish...". XD
I really liked Oda's father moment there when he called his son stupid for choosing an honorable death instead of fleeing to live elsewhere. And his sadness to know that his work of 50 years of human life was gone within a couple years at best.

In this show: watch (well, listen to) Nakamura Yuuichi trying his best to sound like a muscle-brained medieval country bumpkin while having the kind of voice that makes everything he says sound cool. So far I think he's doing well, but I wish they hadn't toned down the Satsuma-ben, especially in the second half. Although if they went all out they would've needed subtitles for Toyohisa... (also they would've needed a native speaker or something)
Anyway, as I guessed the first episode was the first half of the OVA with some (very welcome) extra scenes, and the ending video is fairly cool. |

i am huge fan of the manga but i have to admit, the anime was terrible, the animation alone was enough to kill any reason for me to watch the anime over reading the manga.
won't even bother giving this the 3 episode rule as the source material is far better. |

Ep 01
Hmm. Well, knowing zero about the manga the first episode was certainly...intense if nothing else? Not bad, but not really my thing. I think I will give ep 02 a try, though...

I caught up with the manga recently, but the beginning of it is hazy for me. This was a pretty sober start fot the series. A little action in the beginning followed by some comedy which led to retrospection. Everything these people did turned out to be meaningless in the end and everyone they cared about died. It'll be interesting how this knowledge will affect their actions in this new world.

Episode 1
So this is about historical figures which didn't die but were sent to this world or whatever and are now called Drifters. Possibly because they can move from one world to another like drifting souls or something. The visuals felt a bit weird. The colors were cool but the animation wasn't really stellar or anything. And it had a seemingly grim serious overall environment because of those colors which made that comedy feel weird and out of place and less funny. They're in a serious talk with them suspicious of each other, the environment is serious, the colors are dull, and next thing you know they're plucking feathers off a duck ponytail guy just caught. The transition between comedy and seriousness is kinda off here. I kinda expected as much from the latest PV, but this really isn't good at all. Kinda feels like they wanted to be a serious show about whatever but still wanted to try and be funny. I'm not sure about the former, but they certainly aren't doing well in the latter. I'll see how the story progresses. I'm a bit interested in these Drifters and those people who were spying on them for whatever reason. |
