Is there an Italiano here? I need your help

I currently working with some guys at my country trying to make a Visual Novel. Some guys at the team suggest that we use Italia as a background. but in my opinion there is less information about our background. can some Italiano help me here?? I will be very grateful if you willing to share some info and maybe correct some mistakes on the story background

Aviano Island:

Aviano Island is a fictitious island roughly 30 km x 50km in size, located off the northeastern coast of Italy. The sole and principal town is San Aviano, located at the midwestern side of the island. The climate is subtropical with four seasons (spring, summer, fall, winter). A large diesel generator supplies Aviano with power, although it occasionally breaks down or run out of fuel that has to be ferried over from mainland. Therefore, the wealthier people have their own generators to supply emergency power. There is also a significant number of households that remain unconnected to the power grid either by necessity or by choice.

Main industry is farming, fishing, and tourism. Despite having several tourism objects Aviano has only a few small inns, so most tourists come from the mainland in the morning and return at dusk. Aside from a public elementary and junior high school, the island also hosts the renowned St. Catherine private all-girls senior high school. Aviano boys found themselves having to study in a public senior high school on the mainland.

Aviano is covered by cellular phone network, although the quality isn't very good and connection to mainland may be totally disrupted during bad weather. There's also a small post office in San Aviano. Jurgens has the only satellite phone on the island, and the island harbor, police station, town hall, and ranger station all have radio communication to their mainland counterpart as well as to each other. There's no landline though since the small population makes it unfeasible.

One-third of Aviano is forested, all of which is designated protected area. While the only game are wild hogs, the forest is home to a rare endemic warbler species found only on the island and a favorite stopover location for a large number of migratory birds, hence the presence of park service on the island.

AREAS OF INTEREST


San Aviano Town:

San Aviano, population 8696, is the only town on the Aviano Island. It is a small town containing several thousand residents, lead by a Mayor. It has a town park that contains a small lake, a peculiarity for such a small town.

St. Catherine Girls High School

St. Catherine Private Girls High School, currently hosting 273 students and teaching staff, is an all-female highschool located in San Aviano. Despite being out in the middle of a small island, St. Catherine is hugely popular with middle to high class parents due to its high quality of education and its being located far from the corrupting influences in the larger cities. It has its own dormitory complex to house all of its students.

Temple Ruins

Ruins of an ancient temple of apparently pagan origins could be found in the middle of the forests at the southeastern corner of the island. An archaeological expedition is underway to study and discover more information regarding the ruins.

Temple Forest

Named after the temple ruin it contains.

Windy Hill

The highest point in Aviano Island, it is a grassy hill only four hundred meters higher than the surrounding forests and rolling plains.

Hill Forest

The forest that surrounds Windy Hill. Has a large population of wild hogs that occasionally raid nearby farms. In return, farmers occassionally venture in and hunt the hogs for their meat.

Harbor

The only link between Aviano and the mainland since there's no bridge or airport. A ferry service runs three times a day (morning, noon, dusk) connecting the harbor to mainland - the journey normally takes an hour. Also harbors the island's fishing fleet and receives the occasional pleasure cruise ships visits.

“Centuries ago, the Dark Ages swept through Europe as various barbarian tribes rose against the Roman Empire. As one such barbarian onslaught approached, desperate townsfolk fled to the refuge of a nearby small island and its pagan temple, thinking they would be spared - but they thought wrong. The next morning the refugees woke up to find themselves surrounded by an army of howling, bloodthirsty barbarian marauders.

The thousands of refugees panicked, fearing for their lives, when the island’s rickety head priestess stepped forward and made a proposal to the barbarian chief that almost made him die laughing – to spare as many people that can fit into the small temple. Eager to see the predicted chaos, the chief consented, and watched gleefully as the refugees streamed into the small temple under the direction
of the priestesses. One by one the people entered – and under the disbelieving eyes of the chief, the temples swallowed in every refugee to the last. The old head priestess bowed to the chief, entered the temple, and then locked the heavy wooden doors from the inside.

Realizing that he has been tricked, the angry chief and his warriors bust open the temple doors and stormed in with weapons drawn. But instead of people, they found the small temple full of birds and cats that immediately left through the open door. The last creature to emerge was a white cat that purred in content as it slipped between the barbarians’ feet. Of the refugees and the priestesses, no remains was ever discovered…”

That was the legend of how the island of Aviano got is name, “the Island of Birds”. Although the temple has long crumbled to the ground, the small temple still stands today, near the girls dormitory of the St. Aviano female highschool. Not many people prayed there now, it is preserved by the government and becoming more like a tourist attraction. It is speculated by historians that the legend grew from the abundance of cats and birds on the island – although old folks insisted that the legend is true and those cats and birds are the descendants of the refugees and priestesses of the temple instead.

4. Physical Description : Born in Aviano. Liveria was tall, slender and white. Her hair drops down to her hips, makes people wonder why is she's didn't cut her hair short. Her long blue hair comes from her mother.

5. Profession : Before returning to Aviano, Liveria was known as senior high school teacher somewhere in Italia. She's coming back once every year to commemorate her late mother in Aviano. But, this year (January 2000), she's gonna teach History at St. Catherine High School in Aviano. 6. Background story : Liveria's family were lived in the land of Aviano. But, since Jurgen came to this place, her home was taken with force and resulting in her mother dead. In seek of revenge of her dead mother, Liveria depart from Aviano and tried hard to collect information and colleagues. Even if she already become good teacher, the flame of revenge still burns in the deepest of her heart.

first question. how Italian girls opinion about foreign man. especially a man that came from uknown country such as Indonesia. how will they react if some foreingners attracted to them......

second is it possible for italian girls to get her Revenge against let we say Mafia?? how can a foreigners or what skill that the foreigners must have in order to help the girl??

Well...Considering the argument, the story is enough....weird.

About italian girls opinion for foreign males, all depends, a lot of mix pairs born for convenience and interests, the true love is very rare.

About a revenge against mafia, heh...in the reality is almost impossible, mafia has the cover of political world, a lot of spies inside army, police, finance, etc...95% of people take rebel against the mafia and start to broke the balls...are killed and the investigation are always archives without guilties.
A civilian can take report, but about the results....

About the foreigner skill....for to help a revenge against the mafia, the only way is to have super-powers or just to be a ex-soldier like a SEAL or a monster detective.
Because the authorities can to arrest a mafia ONLY with unbreakable proofs, then the corrupted carabineers, attorneys...can't hide the stuff.

Oh yes, after a possible revenge, mafia is able to find you everywhere, to change country, identity, etc...is useless.

First: I'd like to comment a few things about the setting:

I would assume that a foreigner party wouldn't go to such a remote island to found a school, unless it's part of the story plot. Else "Santa Caterina" should be used instead as a name.

I must say I've never heard of an all-girl school in Italy, if it exists it must be extremely rare. Private schools are actually a rarity and in most cases they are catholic schools. So the fact its named after a saint matches with reality. Mind however that high school in Italy lasts 5 years from age 13-14 to age 18-19.

About Mafia, this island is said to be on the northeastern coast of Italy, and in such part of Italy Mafia is not really that strong. While on the southern part they might have the support (willing or forced) of some local populations, it isn't generally true for the north. They might still be present dealing with black market, drug distribution and recycling money, however they cannot really boss around as you might see in some american movie.

In such context the girl should act like some detective or spy of some sort. Realistically speaking it's hard to believe unless she is very good at infiltrating and spying the move of illegal activities. If she get caught and her identity is found, she'd be too easy of a mark to kill. Either way since Mafia cannot count on the locals to make them spit the name of such an interloper, they'd have a hard time to find her. Also there are different law enforcement forces in Italy. Carabinieri and Police are two different institutions while they both fight crime. So it is harder to bribe both of them and keep them under control. Mafia expecially in northern Italy cannot go directly against them nor completely control them, so they can't be careless.

About the attitude toward foreigners I don't think it's a big problem. There is a lingering xenophobia expecially on northern Italy, but that doesn't seem to be an obstacle to couples and marriages. There's been many cases of italian women marrying with muslims, so even a different religion is not a total wall. Suspicion might naturally arise, but if the guy looks nice and well he will be accepted.

Ah, Liveria is not a common italian name. But people with names completely made up, although veeery rare, do exist.

Mafia control everything thanks his alliance with the policy, the only exception is the army.

Police, carabineers, finance guard....they have spies everywhere, it's just the big silence made by politicians and reporter the big advantage, italian peopole know just the 20% of truth.

About internet, well....depends, in Italy a lot of zones are without internet again, or just the 56k, political world is making everything to limit the internet diffusion because....thanks blogs, websites, etc...a lot of people can read the truth without policy censure.

And considering the italian policy is rotten....this can be a big problem for them, our country-chief (Berlusconi) is one of the worstest criminal.

About schools, we have 2-3 institute just only for women but, they're religious academies, for the rest in more technic schools, women and men make lesson in the same building but in separate classes.

Trust me, I live in Italy and the situation is bad, every television news is a infinite bag of lies, you must use internet, CNN, BBS etc...to know something of true about us.

The fact she is teacher shoudln't make any difference. It rather depends on her personality. I might try to give you a picture of what the usual woman aged between 20 to 30 wants from a man, but does your character need to be stereotypical? Oh you can bet there is! I know Italy is often described as the village of the sun, but in fact if you check it you'll notice that Venice is even northern that New York.
Winters are not particularly rigid, they are worse in the country but not near the coasts, however they can go from 0° C to -10° C. Even on an island you can expect snow on december or january. Also mind one thing. While the temperature is not particularly low, in an island the humidity must very high and that makes the perception of cold skyrocket.

What is the year in this setting? If you asked me this question 5 years ago I would have probably tell you that they only have 44k modem connection at best. Nowaday I doubt that a place of the northern Italy isn't covered by adsl. It might happen for very small villages in the mountains but 8k inhabitants is good enough, they wouldn't miss it.

You didn't give many information but I'd probably describe him as someone with mafia connections.

I think most women here like men that are self confident, dependable, but not rigidly institutionalized. They might not be interested in cultural stuff themselves but if a man shows knowledge is a plus. A recent survey showed that most women think that the first thing that a man should be is a good father.
