I love the concept, but what kind of a name is "Black Rock Shooter"?

I mean the "Black" part is obvious since every character in it has the color black heavily implemented into their design. "Shooter" I guess because the titular character uses mainly firearms to fight, but not every character.

Where does "Rock" come from though? I think I read somewhere the original concept for the character from huke said her cannon could shoot rocks, but I don't know if that's 100% true.

Still, even if there's some basis to it, it's still a pretty silly title.

To me her the Rock Cannon seems like its made of some dense material, like some sort of rock. In the original designs at least.

If your title isn't going to well-represent what the show/narrative is about, then the next best thing is for it to at least sound cool.

Just for the lolz, I looked for silly titles in a list at a watch anime site, and here's what I've found, plus my response to the title. Note: I have NOT seen most of these, I'm just giving my first response to the title:

Angelic Layer- As opposed to a demonic layer.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventures- Very bizarre indeed.

Kill Me Baby- Actually quite fitting. That's what I think every time I hear the opening.

Legend of the Legendary Heroes- Redundancy of the Redundant Redundancy

Little Busters!- Like smaller versions of the crash dummy on Mythbusters?

Lovely Complex- That's a lovely complex you have there.

Madlax- Looks like it belongs in a drug store next to the Exlax and Metamucil!

Magical Angel Creamy Mami- What, this isn't about Mami from Madoka getting covered in whipped cream?

Maria Holic- Your addicted to Maria?

My Wife is a High School Girl- Is that even legal?

Needless- That title doesn't make me want to watch this.

Speed Grapher- Sounds like a spreadsheet program.
