Too many favourites to list... everytime i start listening on one song, i end up telling myself this was the best song but next thing i know, i m repeating the same thoughts again with the next macross song.

Both Ranka and Sheryl have great songs that cover a wide range of mood and tempo. I think this is one of the best Yoko Kanno's work in the recent years if not the best in her work.

Here is the musical portion of Episode 25 for those that love the musical ending like I did. At least the musical point from when Ranka+Sheryl team up and start singing together all the way till directly after Grace dies.

Songs are good at the 03:49 part.

But my favorite and where they really start to kick ass at the 05:57 part. What about my Star as the chorus to Lion sounds so incredible I would love to hear it on an OST just like that.

And of course one can not help but love the Maaya Sakamoto version of Aimo at 07:58 was beautiful and is easily the most heart felt version IMO.

I could literally have this song compilation (pure and without the voices and battle noises etc) on repeat for a while.

EDIT: why the certainty that there will be a third OST? Anime CDs don't make much money anyway - I know that the first OST sold well but there's no guarantee that will last to a third CD when the show is long over. Plenty of Kanno shows don't end up with all their music collected on disc (Arjuna springs immediately to mind), and as much as I'd like to be optimistic in the short-term memories of anime fans Frontier will be in the distant past by the time any new soundtrack comes around.

Still can't stand the song. That makes two years in a row that a song I've found unlistenable has won this thing.

If you take your time and download latest TOP 20 rankings from Japan you could hear some unique, ekhm, music. It's funny as Japanese preferences shifted from j-rock/pop to a mixture of pop and rap recently. Although the latest rankings show that even that is slowly changing.

Well, since OST2 isn't out yet, this is all preliminary.

I like them all. Ok, I'm boring and easily pleased, but this was IMHO one of the best anime music soundtrack in a long time. I can't wait for the flood of remixes, officially-made or fan-made that'll expand on Yoko Kanno's creativeness.
