So far Commander difficulty is kicking my sorry butt, had 2 close Code Black (one of them in the first retaliation mission) and my veterans are out of the game, aside from 3:
-Delta 2/Argentine Heavy (tought ironically he is a Specialist here) -Peter "El General" Van Doorn (not the hero Van Doorn, but the one that's roaming in /xcg/, Heavy) -Jay "Deadbolt" Harris (Sharpshooter; in my last EW classic/ironman he was a sniper with 72 kills not counting the ones on the Temple Ship) 2nd month, low on supplies and intel, and Avatar project has 6 bars. |

What technical issues? I haven't had any other than one time my game got frozen on the Mission Start screen when I was changing a soldier's loadout. And I've played 15 hours thus far.

They have already posted some working fixes (that are almost the same that worked back in EW), but still not a single word from Firaxis about a patch. |

I've seen people getting the game hanged, crashed, fps drop significantly, stuttering, game freezing here and there. It didn't even look like isolated issues either.
Games design looks pretty great, but I can't really say the same about game's performance. It's better to wait until they have addressed all the problems so I can enjoy the game to its fullest instead of feeling irritating while playing.

Change the settings a bit and it should be fine. I have GTX 960 and I got like 30fps before, after lowering AA and other stuff a bit I get constant 60fps.
I had two crashes but that was only when I was loading a save file. So overall, there are performance issues but if you have decent rig you should be able to play smoothly.

Yah the game doesn't seem to be fully optimized. I can still run it decently.
This game is hard even on normal Plus the save scumming which I'm guilty of but sue me. I'm taking it easy and building up my squad to 6 but I've noticed the Avatar project so I'm guessing to delay it you just attack those facility sites and such? Game isn't exactly forthcoming on the details but I noticed that when I killed a CODEX the avatar progress went down one. So far I'm liking it. The specialists with the Combat protocols is super useful when you're up against mechs as it's got bonus attack plus it's useful against those damn vipers. Blademasters...I'm loving the swords. With the snipers I regret not getting kill zones to get the best usage. Grenadiers...man I love them so much because I never thought how much I needed guys who can blow away cover it's not even funny. On that matter with weapon mods they don't transfer do they? I'm using magnetic weapons but I'm guessing plasma is the end game so I'm hesitating to use the mods until I get to the plasma. |

They do actually. Any weapon mods you've installed will be retained upon upgrading to the next tier. Said weapon will lose any name and color customizations you've given it though.

Sadly as a console XCOM fan I will have to wait and see IF they ever decide to make a port, so for now i'm stuck just watching playthroughs and playing XCOM EW on my PS3 for my fix.
With that said I wonder if they will at some point add an EXALT storyline or something, it would be cool to see their designs in XCOM 2.

I'm running a GTX 980ti and I sometimes get framerate drops on loading screens, but it's usually performing at around 110-120 FPS for me (though I don't get why they locked cutscenes to 29 FPS. It's kinda weird.). I have *mostly* maxed settings, though I turned ambient occlusion to Tile AO and Anti-Aliasing to FXAA because the setting right above each tanked my performance but didn't really add anything to noticeably improve the visuals. I also turned off Depth of Field, not because it impacted my performance, but because it annoys me.

Spoiler for Ending:
Will just say, wow this was tough though. Props to the creative team, they made this so much harder than the previous game. I might dive it down to the easiest setting so I can try to get psychic troops next time. I just never found the time/resources to prioritize that rather than just focusing on getting better guns/armor.
