Militairy anime with Tactics

Hello,

I am looking for Militairy anime that has alot of tactic ''talk''.

Like Code geass when lelouce (or however you spell his name) tells his fellow black knights what to do.

Titania had a little of the tactic talk im looking for.


Im looking for a anime, doesn't matter in what time zone, being it in space, Modern day or medieval times.

I dont want anime like Gundams that go into battle, Pew Pew a few suits and win the day.

Hope you can help me and suggest some anime. Preferabel something that has decent animation.

I'd have to recommend Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It's just what you're looking for.

& for the record, not every Gundam show is like how you just described.

if memory serves, I think Madlax had a little bit of that
though there was a lot of "only possible in anime" scenes.
Same with Noir, except there were a few scenes where I was struck at the tactical brilliance of Kikira (like the scene where she puts a coin in the tree so the enemies will turn towards the reflection, or popcorn on the floor of the hotel) though admittedly the anime was mostly sw33t shooting and knife throwing

the first show that comes to mind is a Gundam show..
Gundam Seed (Political, as well as Military.. Strategy..)

Sengoku Basara has some real military strategy mixed in with all the glorious absurdity.

Ghost in the Shell has a bunch of small units infantry tactics.

Tales of Vesperia ~The First Strike~ is an excellent fantasy movie with combined arms tactics.

Gundam 08th MS Team is one of the better mecha series that depicts mecha tactics from the grunt standpoint. You may also want to check out the MS IGLOO OAVs as well. That covers viewpoints from infantry, fire support, tanks, and mecha.

I third Valkyria Chronicles.

However, I will say ahead of time if you are looking for realistic combat, there have been complaints at the lack of realism on VC's part. That, and it's a bit of fantasy mixed in. And drama... But, military, yes, this anime does revolve around a small military squad in the midst of a war.

I'll throw a nod to Valkyria Chronicles, Tales of Vesperia: First Strike, Sengoku Basara and Ghost in the Shell

Others you might want to check out would be Appleseed and Full Metal Panic. Altho FMP is kinda a mixed bag here, it's got a some of the tatics stuff but it also has the somewhat PEW PEW mecha stuff as well, either way tho it's a brilliant series.

One I have to higly recommend that has already been mentioned is Cat Shit One, if your after miltary type action and tatics, this is top notch if not the best kind around despite the rather unique setting
It is only 1 ep but it's the best 22 mins of anime you will see all year.

I have seen alot of gundam series, Wing, Seed, Destiny, 00, second season of 00.
I enjoyed watching all of them, but they all have the overpowered 1mans army suits.
Been meaning to watch 8th MS team.

Seen Catshit one, its not my type of anime i like to watch.

Currently downloading Ghost in the shell serie + movies.

Think i have downloaded Legend of the Galactic Heroes before but it had really bad animation or the file was not good. - nevertheless, i will check out the first couple eps to confirm my worries about this serie.

I will specialy be checking out the series that have been mentioned more than once as first.

That's AU Gundam. They're more on the 1man philosophy than UC Gundam, which paints "Gundams" as slightly more powerful machines, but not overwhelmingly (Zeta Gundam and onward.)

Best military Gundam show would be Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team. I highly recommend it, because the show fits just what you're looking for in a series.
