A new GantZ spin-off manga called GantZ:G was released starting with the December issue of Shuesha's Miracle Jump. Hiroya Oku was credited with the original work, and Keita Iizuka drew the manga. Source.

Is this prequel or spin off?
I believe i recognized two familiar face resembles Nishiki and Izumi from the raw
I more buy this as spin off in alternate setting

It was stated to be a spin-off. The setting is 2005. I don't remember if a year or date was stated in the original GantZ.

As for the content itself, it is very GantZ normal as far as starts go. So far, the gore and fanservice is almost non-existent. They fast forward the explanation, which is good, and the older survivors are not a-holes.

Stupidity in the human race is still very prevalent as shown in the chapters. Seriously, they were warned that a bomb will blow up in their heads if they try to escape. Bombs blow up people's heads. They run. What do the idiot duo (Sakurai and Matsumoto) do next? Right, let's go find another exit, so more heads can blow up. Fortunately (or unfortunately), the aliens prevented them from getting that far.

Definitely a different approach, with the current trendy aspect of having a female lead in GantZ. Kei Kurona (not to be confused with the beer) is definitely a play on the name of the original protagonist Kei Kurono. Her trusty side-kick is apparently Naiki, who looks like the nice kid that gets bullied a lot. The only other named characters are the long haired beauties, Ikegami (black) and Kaji (blonde). Special mention to the protagonist's megumi friend, Miyazaki, whose name is written in one of the suit cases, but I'm pretty sure we can figure out her fate considering they haven't mentioned her name. Well, there were 2 other names on cases, Morishito and Takeshi, but considering they were not mentioned at all, their fates are pretty much sealed.

Therefore, at most, 8 people might survive this first encounter, which would be humongous for a first mission. Kurona, Naiki, Ikegami, Kaji, Sakurai, Matsumoto, and the 2 left over warriors are the likely ones to survive. The rest are pretty much guaranteed to not make it.

I'm wondering if this series will be able to produce something new, or will it be another re-hash of what has already been done? I can understand the beginning being similar, but I do hope the story spreads out differently from the original series.

Can you tolerate if Crybaby Tae Male version have big muscular body like Guile?

Chapter 3

Well, there goes most of the class. This chapter also lists all the named characters at the beginning, so at least we know who they'll focus on. Morishita apparently is part of an idol group.

Currently, there are 4 groups walking around, which are the trio group with the main character, the trio group of idol girls, the 2 older members, and the main class group. The main group is being led by the idiot duo of Sakurai and Matsumoto, so of course they are mostly slaughtered. Actually, I find it funny that the author lists the 2 idiot duo together, as if they are just one throwaway character.

Well, there really isn't much to discuss. People getting killed, people wandering around, and some running away.

Chapter 4

This was quite a brutal chapter, as a couple of named characters died. It is getting a little more interesting, as they are beginning to fight back. This GantZ series is definitely female heavy.

As for the 2 mysterious guys, they've been playing for 3 years. I can't believe they haven't gotten the 100 points necessary in those 3 years.

As shown by this chapter, the manga is a bit more PG-13 than R like the original series. There is definitely less gruesomeness and less nudity, which may deter some of the veterans of this series.

Chapter 4

Okay i dont have think thats Matsumoto and Sakurai are dying okay maybe one of the two but both. Thtas was a big surprise. The next Surprise was thtas the three Girls meet the veterans. I think 1-2 of the Grils will survive.

The Kurona and naiki part was also good but it looks more thats Naiki is the Main and not Kurona.

I think next CHapter the Boss will appear.

In any case its a really good Spin off.
Lets hope it will be a long Manga.

I'm pretty confident that Kurona is the main character. Besides the name, she has been the main focus so far in the manga.

I do think it was simple, but probably because these sort of beginning battles are sort of common and expected in a GantZ series by now. I think the meat of the current story is the aftermath that happens. Now I'm curious what will happen next, and that's where I think they should elaborate and focus on.

I think the next 4-6 Chapters will be the Time After the Mission. Next CHapter wil be scoring and maybe a some Infos when the one veteran will survive. I also can imagine thats one of the 3 Idols will come back i think it will be this Girl with the name Kaji.

But what do you Guys think will we have 1-2 Chapters with the new Characters for the next Mission or a other Mission? Ore will be the next Chapters only about the Guys who survive the first Mission and we see new faces only in the Room?

Well, the survivors will eventually go back to their lives, so we meet get introduced to people there. Of course when they get summoned to GantZ, they'll have new people introduced.

My guess is that it is just delayed. He is still there on IRC, and the IRC hasn't stated anything besides that they are looking for more staff. You wouldn't be looking for more staff unless you are still working on your one project.
