Should I designate a 'He' for SoF instead? It does seem a bit confusing to me when I read it through again. And also, kin or servant?

In this case I would use kin.... kenzoku clearly refers to Hecate and Sydonay and it fits best. Servants is more like that used for the Guidance God's kenzoku...

It's Shana who's walking next to Yuji.

The epilogue is about Sairei no Hebi who is looking through Yuji's eyes. Basically Sairei no Hebi is sleeping a long sleep, but he wakes up every now and then to see what's happening in the 'new world'.

He talking about Yuji, the vessel who once partnered him. He sees that Yuji is going everywhere in the world in order to persuade people. He sees that Yuji is still being chased and that there are still some that are trying to kill him. To me, this means that their 'new world' still isn't perfect.

Sairei no Hebi then says that even he doesn't know what Yuji's actions will bring and that he hopes that he'll understand when he wakes up again. He then starts to fall into his deep sleep again. Hecate and Sydonay seem to be with him there and he thinks about Bel Peol who's still in the new world. I guess this means that Sairei no Hebi is preparing to return to this world again later.

Sairei no Hebi then hears the footsteps of Shana, the contractor of Alastor, the only god who could kill him, next to Yuji as the two of them move towards the future.

All in all, not a completely happy end. Yuji and Shana are together, so that's great! But there still seem to be problems in this new world, which Yuji and Shana are trying to solve. I guess the writer left the ending kind of open. This is a good choice in my opinion. I think this is better than a 'fairytale ending' where everything is completely resolved.

Even though the Snake of the Festival has separated from yuji, he still retains the ability to see through Yuji's eyes. A bit cheeky, I should say, as it may cause invasion of privacy that should be enjoyed by Yuji and Shana alone.

May I know why? I do not think that the author will write any more novel to continue the story, so pretty much the open ending is left to readers to interpret themselves. Are you thinking that fairytale ending is way too perfect in our real world and thus not chosen as the ending?

The words 愛すべき mean adorable....

To a god who made the two of them and are literally his children as well as his primary means of interacting with those outside his realm, they would seem cute. And don't forget they endured much to bring his plan to success

I think the writer left the ending kind of open. There still seem to be problems in this new world and some of our questions have not been answered. Readers will have to think about these problems/questions themselves, since the story has already ended.

This is my take on it:

The rules of this new world are now set. We don't exactly know what these new rules are. But just like always, there will be people who will be against these rules. And some will probably try to destroy them. Not every flame haze was fighting to protect humans/stop the cycle and not every guze no tomogara was eating humans solely to survive. Some had other reasons to do what they did.

You never know how people react to change. Nobody knows what the future will hold.

But Yuji and Shana are together, so they'll be just fine.
