Episode 5 doesn't exactly fit this formula since they barely gave 10 seconds to the monster of the week that they will in fact probably fight next week (or two weeks ago, depending how far back we English speakers are already.)

Only because episode five is a set up episode. It's sure to return in episode six.

Oh yeah, I actually agree with all that since I'm a magical girl fan more so than most anime fans.. It's just that you'd think such a well funded project typically won't go to a magical girl show. But I guess that's typical Junichi Sato project. Always pushing the boundaries within his own twist on the girl-centric anime.

Anyway, the music and the visuals keep impressing with each episode. Really good that they're pushing a very summer-like anime out right in the middle of summer.

The second episode almost killed off all my expectations, and I believed the subsequent ones totally killed it off. But, the character designs are cute enough, and I think that's how it is appealing to me

Episode 04 was a little formulaic, but episode 05 indeed seems like an interesting twist....even if it's kind of been done before in Sailor Moon R.

Episode 7

Nooooo, not another turtle!

Another very enjoyable episode in my book. The highlight was Kanon claiming she was too busy to talk to her ex while trying out all her strange accessories. I truly adore this show's humor and slice of life; it's just perfect. I sometimes wish the whole Sedna business wasn't there at all, but on the bright side, battles let me see Kanon dressed up in her priestess outfit in all her glory.

Well one of the reasons this series as of late has failed to make me want to watch is well the lack of urgency. Even now the Sedna entity is still a fairly formless and abstract character in the story. She's supposed to malevolent and such as the damn turtle says, but we really don't get a lot of her supposed evilness and power. The pair have barely fought any of her minions and most were easily dispatched, even here in episode 7.

That and Marin's already coming off as the stereotyped dumb blonde with a heart of gold. Hearts of gold cane only get you so far.

At least by the end of episode 7 everything is finally picking up and a sense impending doom is just around the corner.

I was momentarily confused when they played the real OP after the part at the beginning, which had a song running the whole time. "Toki no Hana", is it... Song by marble. Ooshima was a good person after all... (´・ω・｀) Nothing happens at all on Marin's side... Though Kanon seems to have settled things with Ooshima. Next time is Kojima? BTW, the pirate boss was destroyed not purified. I believe that the purification only applies to sea creatures infected by Sedna. The pirate boss, on the other hand, resurrected from her remains by absorbing Kanon's dark aura while she had her funny episode.
