I wouldn't be surprised if there is another season, especially considering that the manga is ongoing and given the warm reception to things!

That was quite an informative and entertaining episode with the camping equipment and other goodies.
Chiaki is slowly becoming my favorite character in this show. I just love her personality

I've seasoned a cast iron skillet before using another method, but that wooden bowl seemed like a lot of trouble.
Nice touch with connecting the Google vehicle at the start of the episode to the end of it Last edited by jwai; 2018-02-22 at 15:28. |

The whole thing seemed like too much trouble. I just bought a couple of nice non-stick frying pans that didn't require any "seasoning."

I like how the drunk character from last episode - Toba-sensei - looks so damn beautiful when she's sober. Hope she meets up with our band of goofballs soon.
And I think this episode is the most educational one yet, especially on the issue of ironware and woodwork care. And like Sora Yori Mo, why is it so hard to choose best girl here?! They're all best!

Olive oil is too expensive to season a frying pan. Lodge, the largest cast-iron cookware manufacturer in the US, officially uses canola oil (see the Features tab).

That was up on r/anime within hours of the episode airing. Not long at all.

It may be of interest that Aoi is actually from Gifu prefecture, which is right next to, but not actually part of the Kansai region. Thus, technically she is speaking with the Gifu dialect, also known as the Mino dialect, which sounds very similar to the Kansai dialect but is not identical to it. I am not enough of expert on Japanese accents to be able to tell the difference: apparently even plenty of Japanese people have trouble telling the two accents apart.

If this show were ever dubbed, it's likely she'd be voiced by someone from the American south. That's been the traditional method of representing Kansai-ben accents in anime. At its worst, you end up with characters like the physicist in Noein who sounds like she just came from an afternoon tea with the Daughters of the Confederacy chapter in Birmingham, Alabama, or Billy Bob Thornton's jarring appearance as the English voice of Jigo in Mononoke Hime.

Another fun episode. Even I was feeling a bit down about Nadeshiko getting sick and missing out on the trip, but they did turn that into a fun concept too. Having Nadeshiko and Chiaki joining Rin on her trip via texts did add some spice to it. This was a trip that definitely didn't go as Rin might have expected. I do wonder if she'll be able to get to the camp site in time or if she'll have to give up on this one and head back.
Setting up nicely for that big group camping experience. Does seem like the best chance to get that one big event before the show is finished. The comedy is still great with this show. Loved the moments like Nadeshiko's family slowly trickling in and adding the pressure onto Chiaki. Rin also had some nice comedic moments as well. Also just enjoying the sweet friendship moments with Rin and Nadeshiko.

Her dialect sounds like Osaka dialect when she talks with Chiaki, but it also sounds like Kyoto dialect when talks with Nadeshiko. I suspected that she has been pretending Kansai dialect speaker, but her sister also spoke in Kansai dialect in last episode, So I have confused. In my opinion , most of Japanese can tell differrense Kansai and Gifu dialect. This is because that Kansai dialect is very popular as the word spoken by comedian in the TV show. Some Japanese who isn't born in Kansai often use Kansai dialect because of same reason. Quote:
On the other hand,Kyoto dialect sounds like kind but a little ironic. Gifu dialect may be a bit rustic. How about English in south America? |
