The main thing I took away from the PV was lots and lots of Stalin... even if it was just the one IS-2. Though since Ooarai is still running its traditional units and St. Gloriana is packed full of Crusaders this time, I suppose that the Stalin would be the big bad.

That's the only explanation. Speed/mobility has had liberties taken with them a bit throughout the series. After all, you had the Char B1bis pulling ahead of the Panzer IV and others in episode 11 when chasing down the Panzer III, or things like the Jagdtiger, Ferdinand/Elefant, etc. easily keeping pace with the rest of the formation with Kuromorimine, and so on.

Perhaps the engines conform with design requirements from 1939-1945, but built using modern materials and components, allowing them to perform better.

The Tiger (P) still used it's original engine, so it's possible considering what that tank could do the engines on the other tanks could have been upgraded to produce more horsepower.

Come to think of it, Gekkan Senshadou articles mentioned that Continuation/Keizoku High School has a mix of tanks from many nations. (similar to Oarai team) Since they will appear in the movie, maybe they will be very good and suitable opponent for Oarai.

After independence the future school wanted to help the new nation by establishing trade, and this means creating a path to Finland from Hokkaido, THROUGH the North Polar Ice. Japan was not yet able to build a good enough Icebreaker vessel so they bought one from Finland. That ship would became the future schoolship.

The school has a mix of tanks from many nations, and they specialise in crazy modifications on these tanks. They have crazy accurate gunners, and invincible in the snow. (Simo Häyhä reference!)

On the other hand, in near tropical areas they are doomed...

Culturally the students have high endurance, enjoys solitude, but is crazy serious about friendships. Friends are like family.

Personally, I think the Char B1 can do this simply because other people are also trying to shoot the darn Panzer III and thus not putting their full stroke on. Let's not forget simple solutions before giving up...

To me it looks more like the T-34 and PzIV are dueling and the Churchill is being maneuvered around as part of the 'landscape'
