Decided to take out my original mean-spirited comment since I'm actually not sure if you were being serious or sarcastic when you asked what an otaku was. For a detailed explanation try googling it. Otherwise here goes:
Take an obsessed star trek fan: a Trekkie replace star trek w/ anime: an Otaku Just as geeky and just as unlikely to get laid. Last edited by Sanjuronord; 2004-10-30 at 05:33. |

MS = Mobile Suit MA = Mobile Armor However, their definitions in Gundam Seed is completely different from Gundam Wing. Gundam Wing defines Mobile Armor as more heavily armored as compared to Mobile Suit, while Gundam Seed implies that Mobile Suits are more superior in agility as compared to Mobile Armor. |

I'm not sure what Keith meant since he doesn't seem to know a whole lot about English grammar, but that site is the best place for the OFFICIAL (hense the name www.gundamofficial.com) English info. Its just updated according to what episodes have been aired on Cartoon Network (North America). They are only up to Phase 28 so far, so its only going to have info up to that episode. When the frist Phase showing GENESIS is aired, the site will most likely be updated with complete info about it. Hope this helps.

And my whole point was that the GundamOfficial site is a North American site, not Japanese, so if you can't understand Japanese, then this site is a better place to keep up with this kind of stuff. But since it follows Gundam as it is aired IN NORTH AMERICA, it is only updated up to the episodes aired in North America. While this site only mentions mobile suits, and not Mobile Space Space Utility Instruments Tactical, it does give a good description of what a Mobile Suit is. As for the "full names" of PLANT and OMNI, those are both on that site. DRAGOON system is not on there because the DRAGOON system hasn't been seen on North American airwaves. This was my point. If it doesn't fit with your way of thinking, thats not my problem. And if I found your way of talking hard to understand, and misunderstood what you were trying to say, then by all means, explain it for me so I can understand. |

Am I the only one who thought the producers are too obsessed with acronym? The name "Mobile Suit" itself is pretty clear and understandable even if it's not an acronym. Really, they don't need to make every name an acronym, that's unnecessary.
Now I have to wonder if the name "Kira" is also an acronym? Well, just kidding, but what acronym would you made using "KIRA"? |

Here are most of the acronyms as well as model codes used in SEED:
OMNI: Oppose Militancy and Neutralize Invasion ZAFT: Zodiac Alliance of Freedom Treaty GATX: Gressorial Armaments Tactical eXperiment (GAT-X105 Strike) TS-MA: Theatre Suppression Mobile Armor (TS-MA2 MOEBIUS) ZGMF: Zero Gravity Maneuver Fighter (ZGMF-1017 Ginn) MBF: Main Battle Figure (MBF-M1 M1 Astray) AMF: Aerial Maneuver Fighter (AMF-101 Dinn) TMF/A: Terrestrial Maneuver Fighter/Attacker (TMF/A-802 BuCUE) UMF: Underwater Maneuver Fighter (UMF-5 Zno) TFA: Terrestrial Fighter Artillery (TFA-2 ZuOOT) METEOR: Mobile suit Embedded Tactical EnfORcer FX: Fighter Experiment (FX-550 Sky grasper) CIWS: close-in weapons system OCHER: Operation Commando Hard Environment Reinforced WASP: Water Adapted Search and Patrol IWSP: Integrated Weapons Striker Pack GENESIS: Gamma Emission by Nuclear Explosion Stimulate Inducing System SEED: Superior Element Evolution Destined factor ZAKU: ZAFT Armored Keeper of Unity GUNDAM: General Unilateral Neuro link Dispersice Autonomic Manuever (GAT-X series) GUNDAM: Generation Unsubdued Nuclear Drive Assualt Module (Freedom, Justice, Providence, Regenerate, Dreadnought) GUNDAM: Generation Unrestricted Network Drive Assualt module (Chaos, Gaia, Abyss, Impulse, and probably Saviour) Also, mobile suits are anything that is humanoid in form. Mobile armor is pretty much everything else. Technically, a Ball is a mobile armor since it is not a humanoid shape. |

K.I.R.A - Killing Interface Raiding Assh0le suits him!
Although it doesnt make much sense just like the other official names I never knew the "suit" in MS actually meant something. Mobile Space Utility Instruments Tactical? That's so ridiculous. I rather they stick to the fact that MS is a highly mobile giant mechanical "suit". Gundam should've been a design name like "Raptor" or "Tomcat" instead of General Unilateral Neuro link Dispersice Autonomic Manuever (plus the other junk). In the good old UC days, the names actually make sense. Like Renpou (Earth Feds) eXperimental designed in 0078 stands for RX-78. Noo........i want to scream.... |
