Actually, we can't avoid that. The 4-komas in the manga directly translated into an anime would spell being too episodic.

The first commercial spot for season 2 does in fact end with an extended close up shot of Tea & Cake.

Anyway I like to imagine that in some bizzaro universe K-On did in fact get Soramimi Cake as it's opener and Azumanga Daioh got Fluffy time or whatever the heck the K-On opener was called. This season is the chance to make it right though and I strongly encourage Kyoani to cough up the cash and license the song from J.C Staff in order to once and for all set the order of the moe blob slice of cake anime universe straight.

I mean we could have an opener that actually describes the content of a show perfectly for a change.

Man, I've been obsessed listening to the Beatles song after i've playing the Beatles Rock Band on my Xbox 360 all day to me.

I think your going to have to dig a lot deeper than that to find a valid comparison to a talent like The Beatles. Just saying.....

Also I simply cannot see K-On doing or portraying anything truly inspired by Western music if for the cost the royalties would leave the sponsors with alone. Not only that, but classic rock doesn't fit into K-On's M.O which is to portray a music club full of cutesy girls, at least one of whom will appeal to at least one of the popular moe otaku demographics and push merchandise towards them. John Lennon is not going to sell merchandise to K-On's demographic, but Azuya in cat ears sure as hell will and I can guarantee you that nobody watching this show in Japan cares one bit about classic rock or anything approaching globally successful music groups....even if the show did drop a few important names in the first season like Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.

I think there are some on their Senior field trip and their third year summer activity (not the one at the beach).

Of course the end of High School might not be the end for "After School Tea Time". There is always university.
