In the original novels, Shingen (and Kinnosuke) wasn't supposed to show up until the Yellow Scarves arc, hence their minimal screen time. Also, Namie told Horada the information about Mikado, hoping that Horada would kill him. Have you forgotten that she hates the kid?

Since Shingen is responsible for so much, I expected him to have a bigger role in the end. I mean, he used Saika to steal Celty's head. He more or less started it all. He also seems to be familiar with Izaya. >_>;

I guess I was so convinced that Namie would backstab Izaya that I overlooked the possibility that she wanted or still wanted to kill Mikado. Haha.

edited: Oh. I see. The light novel goes way beyond the anime.
