Hmm, I don't see an option for Japanese with subs on Netflix. I'll hunt it down eventually. Well, I just finished watching it dubbed. Wasn't bad actually. Normally I really hate dubbing, but they seem to have gotten real actors rather then the usual ones you always see doing VA work. It really makes a difference.

Only 2 episodes in so far. Only complaint I have so far is a very nitpicky one at that. I haven't heard any classic Castlevania themes yet!
But seriously, it's absolutely amazing so far. I was starting to think it'd be highly improbable to make a decent anime adaption of it's story, but so far, so good. Quote:
*edit* Just finished up and my opinions haven't changed. Sucks its only 4 episodes, but if they're well paced, I'd prefer that over 12 episodes that might drag somewhere in between. |

It was almost hard to feel sorry for the shitty humans.
I mean, Dracula is a monster, but he DID give them a whole year to GTFO his land. Which is a lot more reasonable than you'd expect from a villain gone insane with vengeance. I hope this changes. Can you imagine if they did a rendition of Vampire Killer as the team face off Dracula? Holy crap that would be amazing.

This series does an excellent job making you hate the church. The 1st episode had some major Berserk vibes going for it. And the way the church acted and the manner through which everyone blindly followed what they had to say was definitely one of the reasons why. Quote:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bzg...Q4WkJQNG8/view (I'd youtube it, but it'd get taken down immediately) It's just the OP set to "Beginning" (Dreams of Triumph version) It didn't take much editing of the song to make it work. And it sounds so much better than that generic dark and ominous song that sounds like it's in every other netflix original series. |

If this becomes really successful and they end up making more series based on other CV games, I hope they make one for AoS and that they are able to use the game's original soundtrack. Can you imagine hearing a modern rendition of Castle Corridor and Heart of Fire? That's going to be awesome.

But that was to be expected, my beef is more to do with Wallachians in the show being godawful people with little to no redeeming quality in general - A guy who clearly express he wishes no trouble and no involvement -> Lynch him because why the F not! - Lisa uses modern medicine to try and help the sick -> Burn the witch! - Speakers are kind hearted people just there to help the people of this land -> Pagans! Kill them all! Trevor was completely right, F these people. Pack up and leave, let Lord Dracula's minions have their dinner. These wretches don't deserve Lisa or the Speakers.

^Well, those people couldn't really help it though. A narrow minded era, a blindingly strong faith and obedience to the church, the church people taking advantage of that faith, plus the threat of Dracula's demons bearing down on their spirits and making them do reckless decisions, add all those and this is what happens.
