The Manipulators And The Manipulated
Ep 7 has aired. Looks considerably more interesting than the preview suggested. Thankfully.

I think I'm fairly satisfied with this one, hence an 8. The show will get much better when Alice's nobility side is explored some more, especially once it intermingles with the underlying conspiracy, of which they picked up one more puzzle piece.
Still, I'm surprised that they still stay away from the main manga storyline, I never expected them to avoid it for so long. They were all on-track till episode 4, but when the story really kicks off is chapter 5, and we're still waiting for it. Instead, we get YET ANOTHER no-manga episode next time. Strange... Ah well, we'll see. |

not bad, im mildly happy to see some examples of better weapon technology...
Spoiler:
As for the finacee, hmm...I smell another rat, it's always the case, while if it doesn't turn out he's a villian with a ulterior-motive, i'll be pleasantly surprised.

Yep, I agree. He's evil. There are two types of fiance characters in this situation, the ones that are boring and the ones that are evil. The boring guy has been disposed of, and, given that it looks like Alice likes him, he has to be evil.
Episode was "meh". I thought the story in this ep was rather boring and, other than the hints of a larger plot, was pretty much a repeat of the other run-ins Section III has had with feudal lords. I suppose what makes things acceptable are the fact that a larger story has been hinted at. Gives me hope that we're only a few episodes away from getting out of filler hell.

Her fiancée does seem out of place in the end. Kind of evil indeed.
Yet the person that gave the area lord the weapons, although thin in theory, I would guess that if I were to plug much in reverse, Spoiler for speculation:
Though with thought of food crisis in mind, I just hope Alice isn't still fasting. Because I swear as just about every episode that goes by, her breast size keeps shrinking. And whatever the animators/writers are doing there, that's, that's starting to scare me. ...Although, bright side there being that one can't then say that they are fake. ... .. ...ok,.. fake, but not fake. ... .. AHHH!!!! |

mind you it, has to be a special type of "dealer" because those weapons were advanced, they were known about, but weren't issued to regular troops yet, so the source is very suspect. So even a regular "dealer" has to have good contacts in the Army....

That Schultz guy is annoying. He just keeps on babbling and babbling in front of Alice....and he's not even Alice's real fiance. I guess it's what you call "self-proclaimed fiance" I'm beginning to think that Oland and Alice might not end up together..but that's just my speculation. I could be wrong though.

I wasn't expecting Alice to getting ready for marriage, but I agree with the above posters that her true fiancee is somehow connected to the tank incidents.
Spoiler:
The half-track in the episode 8 preview looked german SdKfz 7. |

I like the battle music whenever Oland turns on his lamp. It's like a music of death or something. And, I see now where Oland pull out his bullets. Man, I want a gun like that.

dam im beginning to think that this series is losing its "WTF impact" >.<
not as bad as ep 6 but not as great as the others... oki on the topic of the fiance's...the first one was just an idiot...he wont be returning anymore...while the second one is charming...and we all know that the charming guys are evil...oki sorted alice seems to like him tho...bad setup for a future downfall...i actually have a scenario in my head of whats going to happen later...i hope they dont go down "that" route... next ep seems a lot more exciting...gogo gunshots! mercury is a cute dog ^_^

Love Dancers: Those Who Lead and Follow
I'm starting to grasp the broad picture with the dynamics of the storytelling for Pumpkin Scissors. Each but not all of the episodes give tips and hints to the various story elements. This twists and story devices are explored individually through their respective episode.
Once the story reaches into a major turning point, it'll be easier for the audience to deduce the plot by linking all plot devices in hand. The problem with this kind of storytelling is that the writers do not make an effort to build momentum and climax for the pace to transition evenly from episode to episode. I just get the feeling that with this starting episode seem more like fulfilling the mission of the day format. We are not allow to travel and dig into the deeper picture. Spoiler:
I have annoying complains because Schültz was so plainly lame on screen, that I could not bear his boot-licking more than Alice was fed up with. It even saddens me more when a scene switching takes place amidst a tense scene returning the spotlight back to Schültz non ceasing speeches tinged of corny romanticism. Spoiler:

what? *sees the preview* oh.....dunno much about half-tracks, except for the American M3, but your right, it does look like a SDKfz 7... Those rifles look pretty, i wonder what they are? look like hunting rifles with a longitude under barrel magazine. hope there are more vehicles in the next episodes though...

Was thinking that this is not how "episodic" should be.. I wonder.. what seperates a fillerish series (much like PS has become, I'm afraid) from an episodic series (like Mushishi).
Anyway, to the above post, it doesnt seem she's interested in any one guy now. I didn't like the misdirection in this episode, making us think that Schultz was really her fiancee. It was cheesy, and I really dont see what purpose it served; other than to let Leonir make his grand appearance, which is even more cheesy, and just seems too manufactured. In other words, IMO it was a waste of time that could have been put to better use. Other than that, this episode was okay I guess. Elice is cute. |
