pretty clear that's what they're going for. it's a not so subtle reminder that even though she was trying to be more human there, the monster is right beneath the surface.
If so then I guess that scene really is redundant and unnecessary (like I said previously) as far as I'm concerned. I mean, we already know all the things above at this point. Why double down with the "rooftop fall"-scene? Save that animation for something more important. Do the showrunners think Franxx viewers have short attention span and short-term memory? Wait...maybe they do .

Not even famous person is needed. We are talking about the people of America who made that poor-excuse-of-a-BDSM-porn movie (50 Shades something) into something popular, mainstream and a box office moneymaker . When people like something, they're gonna make it big, even weird stuffs. Remember Gangnam style and other weird dances videos on Youtube?

Franxx is deeply flawed (so far) but at least it's a lot better compared to that Twilight porn-fanfiction shit called 50 Shades. Sometimes, people make the most baffling things popular.

i gonna disagree on the bold, while it's not a fantastic top note, masterpiece, it's really not that bad if you know what you are going to get, what is matter is "expectations" peoples are obvious expectating a "serious mecha show" about deaths and bla bla bla and it's obvious which that show really is not "like that, the focus so far is more about "growing kids, while it can have some deaths and drama it's never gonna be the focus or something you will see happening so often, again it's about what peoples are wanting to see x what the show want to pass.

I remember seeing you post in the IBO threads do you like Gundam IBO then Franxx? Because you seem to really find it to be meh right now during the first count .. I can understand that it may have gotten over hype but it's a good anime for what it is right now... unless the second count for darling is virgin souls bad this will be considered not a failure but it may not have lived up to the hype that it was given

I agree with the video that the writers for FranXX certainly are being sparse with the background details of the world - we know enough to understand the events of the episode, just about, but not enough to understand why things are the way they are. This makes it tricky to predict future events. In some ways we know more than the main characters and in some ways we know less.

With regards to world-building, sometimes the "iceberg model" is talked about. You want the audience / readers to believe that there's a real complete iceberg there, but they only get to see the top 10%. It's generally recommended that the author/writer understand the top 30% at least. So the 10% that is shown is the 10% that is particularly relevant to the plot and characters.

It's okay, you can disagree with it. And, no, I did not expect an uber-serious mecha show going into Franxx (it’s a Super-Robot show done by Trigger after all ). I get what Franxx is trying to do (this is not the first narrative to have this kind of story). It’s just not great so far IMO. But I've said repeatedly that I enjoy it. Is there anything wrong with that?

Please understand that people can still criticize the things that they love, like or enjoy. For example, I only criticize one scene in this entire episode. One scene. While I enjoy the rest.

Comparing IBO with Franxx is like comparing Berserk with DanMachi. It’s not fair for both shows since they are completely different aside from some very basic elements. They don’t even belong in the same subgenre. IBO belongs to the Real-Robot subgenre while Franxx belongs to the Super-Robot subgenre of mecha. IBO & Franxx have different target audience, different premise, different narrative, different story approach, different goals, different characters, different enemies & conflicts and even different kinds of fanservice.

Mind you, I have watched other sexually-charged or hetero-relationship-themed Super-Robot shows in the vein of Franxx like Aquarion EVOL, Godannar, Vandread, Candidate for Goddess, etc and I like a bunch of them. So it’s not like I’m alien to this kind of story. I fully understand what Franxx is aiming for. I just think Franxx could use a little more work in what they’re trying to do. It's that simple.

how many of those shows did you watch week 2 week, i'm guessing only evol, since the others are pretty old, and evol has the benefit of being a sequel, because of that you have of knowing how these series are going to go ahead of time and whether or not they are good or bad, franxx doesn't have that luxury it's a new original ip with no source materiel with two cours of time that not only do they have to use to tell their story but also only that time to do it.

you may not be alien to the story but you aren't letting the story finish to build those points, take IBO for example, that series judging from the first half is really good similarly like sword art and like sword art it completely drops the ball in the second half, because instead of using tragedy to develop the characters it had tragedy for the sake of tragedy only to reveal in the ending that all that tragedy in the second half was pointless because the main badguy wanted the exact same thing that the heroes wanted.

franxx has yet two drop the ball yet this season unlike other shows that were similarly hyped up, and it is continually on an upward spiral, it's just in a lot of peoples eye's because it would rather be methodical it isn't living up this seasons hype

Aside from following EVOL weekly, I actually watched Candidate for Goddess two episodes per month or one episode per-two weeks since I was following the show not through fansub but by buying the official VCD of the anime one release at a time. I like the early episodes of that more than Franxx tbh.

That's why I never forget to add "so far" in most of my comments so that people can see and understand that I'm not judging the show as a whole yet. Is that so hard to understand? I enjoy the show but I found some problems in its execution so far. Are you saying that we're not allowed to comment & criticize a show before it ends? Are we only allowed to praise the show in this thread?

Hooo boy, how I disagree with you about that, especially in regards to things that you seem to take the wrong way from the show. And I can give you one hell of an argument for it. But this is not the time nor the place to discuss IBO. So let's stop here. If you still want to talk about IBO, you can either PM me or make a new comment on the proper IBO-thread and I'll reply you there.

But that's your opinion. Me, on the other hand, think that Franxx' quality has been fluctuative so far.

Also, daily reminder that I actually enjoy this show. I'm not hating it.

I will not lie, this show, while it does have my interest and is likely to keep it for a while, does not tickle my hype nerve the same way TTGL and KLK did. And it doesn't really have the excuse for trying to do something radically different that Kiznaiver did. The thing that keeps me interested is this strange feeling that it's all going somewhere and I might regret it if I don't stick around.

I feel kinda the same. It not tickles any of my nerves. It doesn't make me wait for the next episode with anticipation nor it makes me angry or upset, but not bored either. The most close show (in terms of reactions) may be Buddy Complex.
If I have to say it lacks a bit of tension, having 002 a "monster" and with the compatibility issue resolved we reached the point they need to introduce the next level enemy. Also I'm not fond of mecha designs or better say morphology. I'm for a mechanical approach. Don't know, when strelitzia jumps into action it's not that I jump myself out of my seat. I don't pay much attention to fights to be honest. And when I do usually is due to interior shots

Well, I think it's obvious this isn't even close to KLK hype-wise. Still, that's a tall bar to set. Even Trigger can't just randomly pull that off on command .

Pretty good comparison. For me, it's like watching Kuromukuro back then .

Next level or not, I really feel they need to focus a bit more on the Klaxosaurs or at least use them better. The last one we encountered was pretty much a giant plot device used to strip the girls' clothes to ignite the main conflict of the entire episode. Basically a hentai Klaxosaur. That's just sad .

Yeah, agree on that. They might as well use Valsione-like or Nobel Gundam-like mechs

I'll go further and say that I don't think Franxx is particularly designed for hype. Probably more like a slowburn mecha like Eva. I mean, with Eva, I don't feel hyped each episode, just curious of what they'll do next. But the curiosity keeps on escalating during the second half.

IBO and FRANXXX are only similar in they focus on a bunch of kids and the series look to be headed in fairly dark direction but FRANXX has a more thriller aspect although I am sure we all see Papa and Friends being the real villains coming from a mile away. But right now the kids are way more naïve then in IBO and learning about the world at a slower rate then the audience. Whereas in IBO it was laid out and fairly standard from the start some rich Oligarchs are getting fat exploiting everyone else.

I assume we just met one of the nine in that blonde kid a few episodes though but I expect them to provide some human villains in this series for the action scenes. I am curious about what this supposed "Front" is and is like.

Put gee Papa does really check the boxes: Cult Religious Status, Genetically Engineered Soldiers, History Buried, and A Convenient Enemy to prevent anyone one who wants to revolt from actually doing it for fear of dooming humanity. Textbook.

I'm willing to buy that, but thinking about it this way causes a kind of dissonance, because the mech designs (to me at least) feel like they're supposed to evoke some kind of hype.

Anyway, the real mystery is... The regular population. We haven't actually seen any civilians.

I guess Goro starts to get jelous of Ichigos feelings for Hiro, he mostly want to have her attention at him as her partner and not Hiro, so he mostly is looking for a way to get her attention.

That monster at the end will mostly couse problems...I wouldnt be surprised if the team will have serious disconnection issues... but at the last moment the blondie with friends will come to the rescue. So we might get them involved officialy and made them introduce themselfs.
