I believe that Japanese students have free education up till middle school. High school and beyond is all out of the family's pockets.

After looking at this things start to make more sense since Erio had free education up till middle school and then she dropped out mid-first year of high school. Besides, Japanese people and probably most other Asians too, they want to keep their name up. Her old school is most likely a private school and they probably wouldn't want a student that's famous in town for being a crazy person. Also, if she wants to go back then she'll probably be considered a new student trying to get in and will need to take a mid-entrance exam. All mid-entrance exams are supposedly harder than regular entrance exams and after being out of school for so long I doubt she'll past it anyways.

Meme scored major points with me in this episode (unfortunately for her, she can't seem to score with Makoto), she ranks second right behind Erio now. She's officially the most moe 40-year-old ever. She actually managed to pull out the schoolgirl act and make it look cute instead of plain creepy, though it was still a bit creepy nontheless. Her craziness is so much fun:

"Do you want dinner? Or maybe a bath? Or maybe... E-RI-O?"
"Don't offer up your daughter like that!"

I loved her "Heroin! Cocaine!" when she picked up the phone too. Being that girl's big brother must be tough. I wonder if she teased her brother like she teases Makoto. Maybe the terrible secret behind Erio's birth if that her father is Mako's father... yeah, no, let's forget about that. Anyway, if Meme were my aunt, I would have never been able to resist her advance... and that's why I'll never be a harem lead.

Erio is just too cute... being this cute should be a crime. I almost had a heart attack watching this episode. I'm glad to see she fully reconciled with her mother and is trying to get back to society. She has a tough road ahead of her, but her adorableness shall overcome all. Moreover, she can count on her mom and her cousin's support. Meme isn't as irresponsible as she looks.

Good episode. My moe-sense was tingling throughout. Seeing Erio in twintails was almost too much to handle, but I still prefer her long, sparly hair. Even if it's a tad (very) unrealistic.

I'm actually kinda glad about Erio not being able to/not wanting to go to school. Her helping out around the shop with a crazy old lady offers possibilities for some really funny scenes.

Compared to the novel Maekawa is really getting the short end of the stick. Almost all of her parts are cut out. I mean I realized the show is called Denpa Onna so focus is gonna be on THE denpa onna but at least give the side characters a chance.

Pretty heartwarming to see Meme being close with her daughter again. They turned Erio's moe up to 11 this episode (and unfortunately, Meme's along with her

). The whole sequence of Meme swinging around Makoto's neck from his POV was pretty darn awesome, but hopefully Meme goes back to usual after her age crisis (more seductress, less moe). About the school thing, I suppose she knows that Erio isn't ready yet and wants her to take it slow.

Ryuuko was great as well, a lesson in remaining cute while being angry?

Okay, now that's just not fair. One is bad enough, but now we have the one-two punch of cuteness from Erio and hotness from Meme. In fact, this episode is downright hazardous considering how many were lost to HNNNNGG-related heart attacks (thanks, defibrillator).

But yeah, even from 20 seconds in the cuteness attacks from Erio were unrelenting, and I think I lost it when Meme starts licking his inner thigh. Oh, and the twintails! I'm not even mangatron, but when the hairdresser was asking how Erio wants the hair, I literally shouts out "twintails!". Not enough Maekawa though, I suppose her ep will come later. Ryuuko was totally jelly this ep (it's just her cousing...oh wait, you actually have a good reason, just don't forget the aunt too). It seems she got her episode next week too, let's see how it goes.
