So, when they try to arrest the Phantom Thieves, I have to question why the police lady thought that it would work out better for her than anything else. Her goal was to take out the guy at the top, but if she had succeeded then he would have more dirt on her than that chairman had on Mariko. If the public ever found out she convicted a bunch of teenagers on faulty evidence, letting the real criminal get away, then whatever trust she had regained would have been lost in an instant. She was setting herself up for a fall without even realizing it, and I'm struggling to garner compassion for her because she was willing to condemn a bunch of teenagers to a what was at the very least a life imprisonment for crimes she knows they didn't commit.

Yeah, that part of the story doesn't make much sense.

Another thing that really bothers me after the ending is that

She has all the cops who worked for Owada arrested, except... a lot of them didn't work with him by choice and got their heart changed (including the head of the police that she wanted to take down). Seems really unfair to ruin their lives for something that isn't their fault.

This was a good ride. Honestly a lot of moments had me going "I'm really glad they decided to make this." It was nice to see this cast on a new adventure. They got to spend a lot of time together and it was a story I didn't mind going through.

Overall I liked the ending. Sophia struggling like crazy to overcome her programming and awaken her persona was satisfying. Sure it was the kind of thing AI characters deal with, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable. It was hard seeing her being used to attack everyone and taking a fall in order to avoid doing more harm.

I really liked the various moments of tension the story had. Be it the main cast having to hide from islanders out to kill them or actively having to avoid an impending police raid, the game had good moments in it. It took advantage of how dangerous things could get and how helpless the main cast are outside of their element.

I did find myself really missing the various confidants as the story went on. More so than the previous Persona games, the confidants were truly allies of the main character and his journey. I feel like you could have cameo'd a call from Mishima and getting his site back up for the occasion or the various allies that would have most definitely taken notice of what was going on. But I get the idea here. The focus was very much on the Phantom Thieves. They kept the group together more than it felt like they were together on their much longer game . And I'm good with that.

Now I did kind of wish they found a way to incorporate the character relationships into things. It was a bit awkward having the girls interrogate the MC about his love life...including potentially one of the girls he might have been dating from the previous game . And I still wish this was a continuation of Royal instead of just the original game. Left me missing the presence of Yoshizawa and other characters. But oh well, that's just how it goes.

Also huge points to them changing things up a bit with the villains. They changed it up and I appreciate it. Instead of just people being bad and needing to be punished, this game had more nuance to it. The Monarchs did bad things and that's not a question. But they all were damaged in some way and taken advantage of. They did all need to pay for their actions, but the Phantom Thieves could empathize more. In part because they weren't direct victims of them this time around and instead were just coming across them. It let characters like Ann, Yusuke, and Haru grow in how they reached out and helped these people see where they went wrong and change for the better. Huge points for Haru who needed this .

Of course I'll always prefer the combat from P5 ahead of this. It was fun changing things up for this sequel story, but I wouldn't want to use it for a main game like Persona 6. Wasn't quite as satisfying as getting a huge baton pass cycle going and just wiping out enemies . But the combat was still fun.

Honestly I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy this game when it was announced. I felt like the original and Royal ended well enough that I was fine with that. But this was really fun. It was kind of nice going into a game and just having a great time with it. No crazy issues with it or any controversy that I picked up on. Just a nice story that I'll definitely be happy I got to experience.

I mostly just interpreted it as her going after the ones that were working with Owada before the heart of change stuff ever happened. After all Owada certainly had police assistance covering up the crimes he had been committing earlier on. She specifically mentioned bringing in the corrupt cops after the part about the hit and run incident. Too bad for the guys that may have gotten their hearts changed that also helped cover up his hit and run killing, but I think those are the only officers that were basically brainwashed that will be going down for this. Could easily be wrong, but that's how I read into it.

I really wish we have some sort of epilogue concerning all the monarch after the ending.. like how they change for the better and how the society will accept them.

P6 development got confirmed. Hope I don't have to wait too much longer for P5 to appear on Steam, given Strikers came out on there a fair while ago. Would have thought they could have hit the weaker stretch of content that's been out there this year.

It did not.

The only thing that was "confirmed" are several announcements for Persona's 25th anniversary.

It is a reasonable expectation, but it still hasn't been made official yet.

My expectations are P5 Arena, a teaser for P6, probably a mobile game, and...maybe a P3 remake?

I saw some people think it could be a Royal anime but that seems kind of late and unneeded even more than the Golden anime was .

I'd like a P3P remake honestly. It really got shafted being a PSP game, but it was essentially a remake plus an almost whole new game. Getting to play FeMC was a completely different perspective in post-P2 Persona.

I fully support this. P3P really deserved a bigger shot. Not that the PSP game was bad, quite the opposite, but the game did suffer from the limitations of the system. The chief limitation being that the entire daily life portion was replaced with a VN style system due to storage constraints.

My dream would be to get a P3P remake in the P5 engine. Maybe even with some tweaks to make the story flow better (if there's one thing about P3 that was always bad was the pacing. The first half of the game was kind of a slog to get through).

It shouldn't be too hard considering that the dancing games already exist.

I guess part of why I'm fine with a P3 remake is just to get Junpei's new English VA out of the way and Wendee Lee can play Fuuko in the actual P3 story .

Finally going to be able to play P5 Royal on PC. And it looks like P3P has become the "definitive" version of P3 going forward.
