2nd | G04 |569| Index | Toaru Majutsu no Index

Saki fan base seems very powerful, a nice target for other anime fan base Tacos even beat Hinagiku by mere 3 votes in overall total of group 1 up to 10.

Glad my ideal voting time is when many Japanese are at work or school. School is in session now on the other side of the Pacific, right?
I voted right before I was about to sleep

Indeed, I'm surprised by the performance of Saki, but prelim performance isn't exactly indicative of actual performance in the rounds. There have been many characters with strong prelim performance that were eliminated early.

True, but there's also cases like last year where the character that recived the most votes in the prelims won, the character with the second most was a finalist and the character with the third most made the Top 4. IIRC it's pretty rare for a character to directly beat a character from the same preliminary group that did better. If you rank near the top in a preliminary group that pretty much means either you are strong or the entire group is weak.

I agree with both, there are to many variables for something like this, in a tournament anything can happen. Besides, if the banning actually gets lower during the main tournament, the foreign influence may change the way the prelims have been carried out.

Spoiler for My group 10 results:

8-2-0
So Konata got the second place (a shared second place but meh), I'm happy enough, and Momo as the leader of the group is good too, she's very moe and her few scenes in the anime were great.
I'm surprised by Itsuki getting the fifth place and Melon actually getting into the main tournament, I didn't see that coming

Well, group 11 has been the hardest for me to pick 10 girls, I had to leave out quite a bunch but ended with these ones:
Quote:
CLANNAD ~AFTER STORY~>> (Furukawa Nagisa(Okazaki Nagisa)@CLANNAD ~AFTER STORY~)
(Nogizaka Haruka@Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu)
(Minami Haruka@Minami-ke Okaeri)
(Usa Mimi@Kodomo no Jikan Nigakki)
The Animation>> (Kuro@Kurokami The Animation)

(Kawashima Ami@Toradora!)
(Arashiyama Sayoko@Natsu no Arashi!)
(Shinouji Matsurika@Maria†Holic)
>> (Chikura Nao@Hatsukoi Limited.)
OVA>> (Iinchou/Class President(Last Amazones)@Seto no Hanayome OVA)
Nagisa and the Harukas won't need any help but I'm interested to see who beats who. I think the rest will do just fine.

In the second preliminaries, only the girls placing 1st~9th get to advance to the main tournament(7*24=168). At least 384 girls will advance to the main tournament. There could possibly be more in case of preliminary ties.
I was reading this, and it doesn't make sense. 13th-40th place is 28 girls, not 27, since the 40th place girl gets to move on. 28*18 = 504. In that way, the girls can be placed into 7 groups of 72 girls each.

Then, in the second round, shouldn't it be 7*9 for 1st - 9th? This is 63 girls, which, when added to the first round count of 216, gives 279 girls total?

Is my math wrong somewhere?

According to the Saimoe 2009 Official site,

http://saimoe2009.tonkotsu.jp/

7 groups in 2nd prelims, and 1st~24th advance to the main tournament: 7*24=168

So more girls are getting in in 2nd prelims than in the 1st prelims?
Is this different than before?

216 (+2 thanks to ties) directly, 168 through 2nd preliminaries.

Seems fine to me.
