I like this. A lot. My first impression was that it was a lot like Kamichu! and it only got better for me from there. It helps that Masotan is basically a plushie version of a regular dragon, no spikes and fangs.
I'm the type that freeze-frames stuff to read background and eyecatch texts and the printouts going on around the headpiece tech description on the laptop was fun to read -- it has GPS, BeiDou (the Chinese satnav system), Galileo (the EU satnav system), GLONASS (the Russian satnav system) and even Quasi-Zenith, the Japanese local-area satnav/time system (準天頂). Edit: the headpiece uses the CCA-800 GPS module by the looks of it, from Japan Radio Co. Ltd. It's a real product and does everything it says on the info screen, including "burst mode".

Does anybody know how old these characters actually are, by the way?
I was just so struck by how genuinely child-like Nao behaved at so many points that I couldn't help but wonder if she actually was a child. It would explain a lot too.

The JSDF take who they can get to work with the OTFs, just like Another Secret Governmental Organisation and their EVAs. If they're childish and immature, tough. Hitose is a "nisi", (translated as airman third class), probably still a teenager or just out of her teens.

I feel like I missed something in the bit with Hisone's call sign (or TAC name, as they called it). Isn't Hisone her name? I checked ANN and Wikipedia to make sure I hadn't gotten it wrong, and they both say Hisone is her name. So her name is also her call sign?
Apologies for the confusion. |

The show is really entertaining. Love the cast and love how the story and the characterization is going. The girls and the dragons stranded in the island sure sets up to force them to work and trust each for them to get out this.

Episode 5 That was definitely the best episode yet. All the D-Pilots' neurotic personalities were on full display and it was absolutely hilarious. The rate of lols per minute was really high. Everything from the dragon licking to the rain dancing had me in stitches. The voice acting is really on another level

I wonder how long it'll be before Eru gets that stick out of her arse about being a real pilot. If anything, her partnership with F-2 is the most dysfunctional, and got everyone else into trouble in the first place.

That character is what brings this show down in my opinion. Higuchi, Okada and co. appear to have grossly miscalculated how annoying and off-putting he is. I mean, is anyone seriously rooting for him and Eru to become a couple? She might have issues, but no one deserves to be paired with that piece of crap who has yet to reveal a single redeeming quality.
