Maybe, I know that Mikado admits to being the Dollars leader in the open in front of Kadota to a certain ladiesman (who didn't believe him) at the end of the sixth novel and the other three may have been around at the time, dunno for sure but I think it's common knowledge at this point. I know for sure that even Shizuo knows he is the Dollars leader. He certainly didn't hear it directly, not to my knowledge at least.

Kida comes back at then end of the 6th novel (doesn't get time to do anything until the 8th though). Mikado useful? Welll, he becomes effective later on. I dunno how useful he is.

He saved Mika and helped Cetly locate her head for the first time in 20 years, that's pretty damn useful if you ask me.

However, it looks like Narita wants to avoid having him to solve everyone's problems like a main character would normally do hence why he isn't the MC and Cetly is because she does a exactly that. In this way Narita is freer to develop him in anyway he wants without being held to any sort a "hero" standard.

Iv got a question about the light novel, the ending or the entire anime of Durarara, how accurate was it too the whole story and ending? and did the ending raise any good possibilitys for sequals?

From what I read Anni's LJ, no. Izaya is still using it for own ambitions. Like I said on the ep 24 thread, she doesn't chase after it as much anymore to find meaning in her life.

On another note after reading through the translated Vol.4 it looks like Anri had already met Shingen back in Vol.3 and apparently he never cut anyone but Celty with Saika. He even offers Anri help with, but it's likely he'll just use her as a guinea pig -_-, which is odd because it like Saika can force it's host to do it wants sometimes.

It's interesting that the Saika Childs aren't really mindless after all, which means they can be manipulated by other people/forces if it's just protect their "Mother".

Indeed, it's suggested that Anriis required to restrain Saika but Shingen seemed to manage fine.

Yeah which makes him even more mysterious, plus now there's now potential danger to Mikado and Masaomi from because of this.

Shingen just used the sword, he was never cut by it or infected.

Man, what a disappointment. When I read Mikado stabbing Aoba in their negotiation in vol6, I thought he had a badass side to him that Aoba and Izaya couldn't forsee. Now, it seems like Mikado's degeneration is just going right along with their plans.

Most likely after this arc, we'll get an arc where Anri goes crazy too.

Eh, it sounds like Mikado is the one doing everything going from the spoilers. Aoba wants BS revived through Mikado and the Dollars, and Mikado only going along with that since it's a necessary step for "his" plans. Mikado is well aware more than anyone that Aoba is a devious bastard and is part of the very problem his trying to fix, so I suspect he has something up his sleeve for him and crew when the time comes. Aoba and Mikado will likely both team up get rid of Izaya anyway.

And Yeah I'm interested in what Anri plans to do, she knows something suspicious is going on behind the scenes with Mikado.

Yeah, but remember who got Mikado thinking that he needs to "purify" the Dollars? It was Izaya and Aoba. Izaya played Mikado by using Masaomi's handle to tell him that something was wrong with the Dollars to begin with. Aoba was afraid of Mikado at that pen signing incident, but now it just seems like he's playing along because Mikado's new attitude will naturally revive the Blue Squares and destroy the Dollars, just like Masaomi ended up destroying the Yellow Turbans and revived the Blue Squares.

And while Mikado is moving with an iron fist, Izaya is using this opportunity to start another war by getting the old Dollars who disapprove of Mikado's actions.

I'll be perfectly fine if Mikado was aware that what he's doing is wrong and trumps both Izaya and Aoba's plans, but right now he's set up as the hero who's gone astray and needs his friends to save him. Not that there's anything wrong with that, because it'd be nice for Anri to get closer and for Masaomi to come back.

Actually, Mikado knows that Aoba is using him, as conditions for their cooperation was that Aoba could use him for his own purpose while Mikado used him for his. So it all mutual, the bigger question is if Mikado is going to pull fast one Aoba at the end or, is he going end up being corrupted and miserable like Masaomi was.

At this point Mikado's intention is to regulate the Dollars to prevent what they did in Vol.6 from happening again hence why he's only targeting the bad half of the Dollars, like that Stalker who tried to kill Shinra.

Mikado doesn't need to just pull Aoba a fast one, but all of Blue Square after he is done letting them regulate Dollars. But Izaya as far as we know any of this and is forming a group of his own to take on the Raira three and the good Dollars, rather then utilise Mikado's behaviour to create a wall between him and the others.

I'm not sure about DRRR but there are a few characters in Baccano! that could fit that description so this might be the wrong thread for that.
