Admittedly I had to check the link to figure out which Demon Lord show was getting a second season. But now I kind of remember this one . A surprising announcement, but I'm good with it .
Could be fun to see how the next part of that story plays out.

I actually really liked the first season, but I thought the anime production was so bad, that it would never actually get a sequel. I do check on it from time to time to see if it will really get a sequel, and to my surprise, this is it.
However, the fact that it is "R" is making me cautiously optimistic, as that is the manga sequel story. Hence, it might not continue where it left off, but is a whole new story after the previous one series finished.

The light novels are some of my favorites of all time! The anime was kinda crappy in comparison, but it did introduce me to the story, so credit where it's due.
All things considered, I found this to be a more creative version of Overlord. The MC is an admin rather than a player, and the new world is fantasy (instead of sci-fi like his own game). While he shares the same devil's luck as Ainz, Hakuto Kunai is a conman who consciously remembers and takes advantage of these misconceptions and coincidences rather than freaks out about them. He may not be very political, but he's crafty and has a strong vision for the future. The fact that most of Kunai's NPCs are NOT evil is also a nice contrast, since it adds a little splash of checks and balances to the system he's slowly setting up. Isami Tahara is the genius (like a good version of Demiurge) whereas Yu Kirino is just as evil (and almost as obsessively possessive of the MC) as Albedo. The main difference is Kunai is a neutral existence. A bit of a narcissist who cares little for people he doesn't know, seeing only what value they could provide him as workers and allies, making him a true capitalist. Whereas Ainz freely kills anybody he deems to make an example of them, Kunai only kills people whose continued existence would be a detriment to his business or a threat to public safety. He and his minions will work to politically discredit others to make their own system look all the more enticing to the oppressed peasants. He also seems better at picking up women since he's not a walking undead. In the light novels all of his female NPCs and almost every beautiful girl he meets on his adventures becomes attracted to him. |
