Gunslinger girl licensed by Funi

Funny I though ADV was Co-funding this series since they have the manga.

Yup, looks like they're bringing out uncut Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh, too. I'm surprised 4Kids allowed it.

Congrats on 4Kids part!?

But I also thought Gunslinger Girl would be licensed by ADV. Oh well, at least FUNimation is continuing to broaden their horizons.

YAH!! Another great series licenced!! Wahoo!! Now all I gotta do is rob a few banks so I can actually have some cash to buy the R1 dvd's. hehe. Of course considering 95% of my collection is R2, that would be a streach.

I thought ADV was going to get it too. Regardless, that's one more off the "would kill to get licensed" list. Only a few of those left.

A lot of good stuff getting picked up this year.

jeez, FUNI? 0_o
this series had ADV written all over it...
or at least Geneon
what's next?
"NaruTaru has been licensed by FUNimation"

...parents would have a fit if that happened

Gunslinger Girls was a fairly enjoyable series, but I don't think it's something I'd want to watch again.

Well, no need to have a multi-region player actually, as Gunslinger Girl will
also come out in R2 PAL and even before Funimation does it. Unfortunately
you do need to be able to read either French or Dutch subtitles for this release.
(unsure about other language subtitles, but probably no English)

Heh, thanks for that, but unfortunately I don't understand French nor Dutch, so I have to wait a release with english subtitles.

Gunslinger Girls is the greatest series ever made. And because it's my opinion, that also means it's a fact.

Just goes to show, just because one company is listed in the credis of an anime, or co-funding it, doesn't mean they have the show....

Anyway, I'm glad FUNi have picked up another title. I'm a fan of their alternate angel tactics, heh.

It's good that I will be able to get the dvd's and its great that Funi seem to be pushing for a change away from butchering great anime's, tho I'll hold out my final judgement.

But far and away the best thing was the 13 ep season. I loved every minute of gunslinger girl - it was an emotional rolercoaster that I just couldn't get off of. I could have watched another 13, but I felt the end was about perfect at 13. And I couldn't have coped if TWO favourite series (GSG and FMA) were BOTH licenced mid-season that would have been too harsh!....

Anyway, DVD's to buy coming soon

gunslinger girl , was one of the best anime , with in another type ,azumanga daioh or mao chan (ground defense ) .

only 14 minutes of gunfight ( are they really gunfight ??, ) only 13 ep of 22 minutes each). and henrietta was very very very kawai (see henrietta with the icescream in the 6th ep ).

adv will sell it in usa ,and kaze will sell it in france around the next year .

i think that with azumanga daioh (who will never came in france , (i'm french ) ) gunslinger girl will be the rare dvd i will buy .

the ost was very good also .

And it also goes to show, that if a US company is listed in the credits, it's most likely that some US company will pick it up, if not the original company.

Whoops! Looks like someone at Funimation failed to notice that "about young girls" meant "rampant loli overtones" in the case of GG!

Just kidding. The show was great and I hope it does it well regardless of who releases it.

ADV was never listed in the quotes. It was assumed to be them because they had the manga and the Gunslinger Girl group in Japan mentioned that it had recieved over 50% of its funding from a US and European licensor.

I would wager a guess that it was in fact -not- ADV but Funimation doing this. Funi still has a ton of cash on hand thanks to DBZ. I wouldn't be suprised if they are directly involved in bringing the GSG games to the states.

Wouldnt you be able to afford more R1s if you didnt buy as many R2s?
