Urara Meirochou

4-koma Urara Meirochou is getting an anime adaptation by Harikamo.

Plot Summary:
Quote:
The story is set in Meiro-chō, a town where all-female diviners (uranaishi) live and where girls from all over the country yearn to become the top diviner — "Urara." Today, a solitary girl named Chiya enters the town's gates. However, she has another purpose coming here, besides becoming the Urara. Chiya's days as an apprentice diviner begin as she meets three friends — the earnest Kon, Koume who is a fan of Western culture, and the shy Nono.

That said, from the initial two episodes I watched at a special preview screening, the series offers a rather fascinating world with its own set of rules as well as a compelling protagonist all wrapped in a lighthearted and warm narrative.
It’s entertaining world-building. Add to that a colorful cast of charming characters and some casual comedy, and you have the recipe for an affectionate, smile-inducing story.
Obviously, not everything is butterflies and rainbows. Yet despite such moments of seriousness, the series maintains an overall upbeat tone.
From the two episodes I watched, the series is definitely more balanced towards a fluffy atmosphere with hints of emotion-tugging moments to come. I don’t exactly have to recite a lesson on Chekhov’s gun for it to be rather clear that certain elements that are introduced early on are probably going to be playing an important role later on. That said, the anime has an overall soothing feel to it which reassures you that, despite any hardships or emotional moments that may come up, everything’s going to be all right.

So about a two day delay or so, eh? Well, better than nothing!

Some anon beat the official stream to the release. Sentai should be ashamed of themselves.

Anyway, this is cute, although... stranger than I was expecting. How exactly was Chiya raised? She's capable of speaking and reading, but she acts like she learned her manners from dogs. Someone needs to teach her some things regarding human culture and propriety before she causes more trouble.

Interesting how there are many choices for their methods of fortune telling. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them.

Ep 01

Ayup ... I liked the first ep.

Enjoyable though slightly non-standard Kirara (from the same Kirara manga variant that gave us series like Koufuku Graffitti and Joukamachi no Dandelion.

For those curious, here is a link to other series it is running: https://myanimelist.net/manga/magazi...Kirara_Miracle

I think the thing that was the most interesting for me was the setting ... I can see some potential in story and character development, even if it is a 4-koma format. The characters are interesting as well.

Do hafta agree in terms of being taken aback (not in a bad way, just in being surprised) at the story and content of the anime proper. Not quite sure what I was expecting, but the overall package felt ... unexpected, somehow.

Yes, I will try and be more vague next time.

That was fun. Chiya must have been raised by wolves or something and nearly got run out of town by the gallant Captain Saku for her peculiar method of apologising after all her animal friends 'gave' her food.

Liked the setting and it's a neat idea which brings something new and potentially interesting.

Dango fortune telling? What's your future, eat too many dango and get fat?

What. In. The. Actual. Fuck.

Granted I don't watch a lot of series like this but seriously what?

The... poses she did at the start when confronted by the townspeople and the police lady where she exposes her belly (or specifically her underside) are submissive stances used to wolves and feral dogs to acknowledge a superior pack member or the pack Alpha, so given that I assume she was raised by wolves or something.

That said this is probably batshit zany enough to be entertaining.

I'm just glad the only behavior Chiya takes from dogs is showing your belly to show submission/contrition. It could've been so much worse. She might have tried sniffing people's genitals/backsides when she met them or offered to let them sniff hers, or expected dominance to be shown through mounting, or any number of other things frankly more problematic than simply showing your belly and part of your chest to a bunch of other girls. Let's just hope she understands the concept of toilets.

I personally think the world this story takes place in is interesting or at least can be explored a bit beyond what's shown so far.

Chiya is cute, quite cute in fact even with her peculiar behavior with her belly. Lol.

Cute innocent lewd wolf girl is cute! And lewd! Everyone is cute to a degree, but Chiya and Kon stole the show for me, though Koume is pretty cute too.

The setting was definetly a big surprise; I knew about the fortune telling part, but I thought it would be a school club, not ancient Japon. Not that I'm complaining, it adds a different flavor to the whole, and we get to see the ladies in outfits that would be considered cosplay in any other period. Can't imagine Chiya running around in that outfit in modern times.

Definetly sticking with it.

If Gochiusa is set in France, then this might be the Gochiusa in ancient Japan.

Been awhile since I really had a CGDCT SoL, so this is the first series keeper for me this season.

Episode 1

This was too cute and hilarious. Chiyo to is something lol. All that belly button... All these girls are quite fun in many ways. Chiya especially with her randomness. Kon was a fox girl lol. Turns out that's a ribbon and she has no tail (thanks Chiya). The comedy was pretty spot on mostly. I just got my seasonal dose of cute girls.
