Takuma Zushi just wanted to be left alone. He sleeps in class and skips club. While going home, he sees a girl walking into the woods and decides to follow her. There he witnesses a fight between two sword masters with the prize being the ownership of the "Kandachime", a sword that can shape shift into a person. That girl, Otowa Hagane was about to lose when he naively steps into the fight...

I bumped into this while looking for new manga and to my surprise it turned out to be pretty good. The characters are likeable, though I couldn't stand the main guy in the beginning. He became better now so it's all well. Kandachime has a solid storyline, good artwork and no over the top powers. Right now there are 20 chapters scanlated and I REALLY don't like what happened in the last one.

So, is there anyone else reading this?

Yes, me. It's really good manga, with interesting characters and plot. Not much romance, it's more mystery and action manga. On the other hand it could be tagged as tragedy. Tags like romance + ecchi + supernatural might be misleading, this is a sad manga.

Supernatural is pretty accurate. The entire story revolves around fights with magic sentient swords after all. But yeah, the romance is pretty minor.

I've been reading this for quite awhile, it's pretty good.
The action and story is good and well the romance factor is small but thats not something I'm bothered about.
Altho a actually pretty good series I somehow can't think of anything to talk about it compared to some other stuff that comes across as plain crap.

p.s theres something about the Miss Hagane I find really really really cute, hell knows what it is but I do

Started reading it, but kind of lost interest. The main character's personality is a bit boring and cliche and the setting isn't THAT unique (plenty of manga with chicks -> swords).

So...that kid host ends up burning to ashes when the blade is destroyed? Hagane's resolve not to cut humans turned out pretty useless in this case.

Interesting bit with Zushi's brother. Has a bodyguard that isn't a Kandachime (but is something), and pretends that nothing happened? Suspicious.

Not really the only human romantic interest. There's still Yuri. Its been hinted from the beginning that Yuri has loved Takuma for a very long time, since their childhood, especially made obvious in the chapter where she hugs him. But so far, Takuma only sees her as a childhood friend. And chances are there for the younger black haired girl to fall in love with him too. However, I agree that if Tenkouji had managed to live, Takuma would've been going out with her, he said it himself infront of her grave that he could've fallen in love with her. I felt really sad whenn Tenkouji died

Concerning our little love interest. Why am I seeing her her rust being used to forge a sword. Its like she died all too easily.

Her coming back as a sword would be cool, but I can see why she is perma gone, because it set up yuri(who riko urspurped for me) as a goahead romantic interest(if our protagonist would ever make the move). If anything happened to her on top of riko id be obligated to burn the authors house down.

But ive always felt that yuri was a favorite with all the coverpages she has gotten.

This why keeping up with monthly manga that have scanlations lagging behind is pain in the ass sometimes. *sigh*

No it didn't end. The author had a kid and its on hiatus, I think. I do know it is most definitely not done.
