I ADORE their music, but their latest single was kinda... bleh.
I guess they're just getting old. OR, more probably, trying to appeal to the US audience more - they DID sign a contract with an American Record Company. -_- However...Kyo's Engrish is just... getting out of hand. "Think, you ahr a morAn, KILL YARSELF! someday I WILL fuck your parents!" ZOMG, Emo to the max. DING I think his voice is kinda getting blah too, maybe it's is smoking? -_- The music, the supposed vocal line are great, but can't they refrain from using terrible engrish? I mean, even Withering to Death stuff was okay, but Clever Slezoid has 1 line of Japanese and the rest is hurt-you-brain-pseudo-English. I guess they DO want to make it in the States, after all. At least we'll be able to buy their CDs without importing them. About Gackt... He was okay when he was in Malice Mizer. Now I don't really care for his stuff. I only likie one song of his - Fragnance. |

I didn't like Withering to Death that much, even though I went ahead and bought it anyway. In fact, I can't remember a single song on that album without prompting. Favourite Dir en Grey songs include Garden, Taiyou no Ao, Ain't Afraid to Die, Cage, Mask, Yokan and Riyuu. I'd watch the videos mamoru posted, but some of their PVs are a little gross.

At risk of sounding like a rabid fangirl...
DIR EN GREY ARE COMING TO THE STATES!!! And I might get to go to one of their concerts. O_O I don't care if their last single wasn't great, they're still one of my favorite bands. ASDFGHJK, I've never been so excited about a concert before in my LIFE.I've been waiting for this for 2 and a half years x_x |

NYC, eh? I'll think about it. I'm a fan, but not big enough of one to go to the trouble of going to their show. Usually when I become a fan of a band, I'm a fan of the music and not of the people themselves.

The NY show sold out the first day of presale~
And the LA tickets go on sale in a couple of hours. No, I lied. Freewill America is having troubles with the venue in LA, so the tickets weren't on pre-sale yet, and not going on sale today. The FWA website is down. This is just getting curiouser and curiouser ~_~ Last edited by Sakura-chan; 2006-02-25 at 16:35. |

I think most people agree the old albums are better though. Over half of Withering was just... meh. The Final rules though, as does Kodou. Songs like Dead Tree were fine until Kyo felt an urge to scream randomly, ruining the entire song. He can scream well, he just chooses not to here. Kisou's still my favourite album, but the rest of their albums have some great tracks too. Quote:

I went to the one in Austin, TX. Actually, it ended up not being industry only cause no a lot of badge holding or wristband wearing people showed up. *sadness* But I was the 3rd one into the gate, so I got to be RIGHT in front of Die (sexy beast/love of my life). Their show will blow you away no matter how much you dislike their "withering to death" album. It was totally worth the $150 wristband. *if you want to see pictures, feel free to PM me*

I just got back from Cali and... ASDFGHJK IT WAS AWESOME.
It's fascinating how most people there did know Japanese (like me), and still sang every word... I know I did! My neck's still kinda stiff from headbanging, but hey, IT'S ALL GOOD. Quote:
Yeah, I was way in the back, on the 3rd tear up. I believe the 3 hour rule, but apparently, there were people there at 8 o'clock the day before... >_<|| |
