Monir it is time to pull some strings in the moderator's forum and convince the rest to create a HxH sub forum!
P.S I swear that my long crusade to give this series and Saint Seiya more recognition with the animesuki community have absolutely nothing to do with my suggestion.

it certainly was more detailed, but the pacing of GI can be painfully slow at the start so its very subjective wich did better, there is only one bit that was omitted in the madhouse adaptation that do really have relevance.

Madhouse sacrificed detail for pacing.
I suppose it's a choice to make. I for one am glad I already read the manga and seen the original anime. While this is fine for me, madhouse-only watchers may feel like they're missing out. |

Well, if they never read the manga or watched the ovas, then they sadly have no idea about the amount of things they're missing out lately.
Sure it's faster, and young kids must prefer it this way, but all the Togashi-ism about GI and its mechanics is feeling very simplified, and that's part of what makes his style of storytelling stand out. Anyway, this week's episode had some weird censorship. They got away with so much more in York Shin but it seems they're going back to the old standards now. |

Censorship? Where? Was there even any violence this ep?
Anyway, I meant like, rules of greed island and such. They're skipping over quite a lot of exposition such as the trick to winning Rock-Paper-Scissors. |

They censored the description of Binolt. In the manga (and probably the OVA, I can't remember), he was a cannibal serial killer whose favorite dish was the flesh of 22 year-old women (which is why he has a weird nen ability like eating hair to get info on people's bodies: he's a connoisseur). It's not a huge change, but it does put Gon's willingness to forgive him in a very different perspective.
What's more distressing about the change is what it might mean for future arcs, where such disturbing imagery can't really be avoided. |
